okbeast Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 Anyone tried it? If so what were the results? Wasn't sure if it might hold in too much heat and affect performance? This will be on shearer oofs on 421 cub. Quote
vrx46 Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 I think they look great and hold up great. I wouldn't think they would store anymore heat then chrome does. I had hpc shoot a set of pipes in bonded chrome, looked awesome. Jet hot is a good company to get them done by also Quote

okbeast Posted March 26, 2015 Author Report Posted March 26, 2015 I figured there would be some people for and some against. Sounds like Shearer is against Quote
okbeast Posted March 26, 2015 Author Report Posted March 26, 2015 I'm open to powdercoat too, just don't want to go the spray paint route as it never lasts. Quote
trickedcarbine Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 Mat Sheaarer himself told me he had a set of coated pipes come through and they were down about 10 hp. Quote
gusto Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 Mat Sheaarer himself told me he had a set of coated pipes come through and they were down about 10 hp. Well fuck.....I just bought ceramic coated snipers 10 mins ago. 10hp!? Really?!! Quote
sprinklerman Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 Well fuck.....I just bought ceramic coated snipers 10 mins ago. 10hp!? Really?!! No.If you're concerned, I'd ask the guy that engineered YOUR pipes, not base it on what another pipe builder found with HIS pipes. 3 Quote
J-Madd Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 My 650 cc drag bike has ceramic powder coat. It runs better than most. Quote
okbeast Posted March 27, 2015 Author Report Posted March 27, 2015 Interesting. I would guess it has something to do with heat retention. I may wait till after this next riding trip to try it just in case it had a negative effect. Quote
trickedcarbine Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 Snipers may be different. Have to see if Gary has tested that. I thought you were talkin about coating shearers. In reality there are a few different pipes that to run better coated. IMO, you can use it to help move or retain heat differently and I know of a couple sled builders who use that to their advantage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I do have Shearers, someone else brought up the Snipers. I'm guessing it depends on exactly what kind of ceramic coating also. A lot of places will say they ceramic coat but it's really just some fancy powder coating. Quote
