onefatty
In all honesty if your going to drive down the road, just drive down it. I think its more of a risk driving on the shoulder moreso than just moving with traffic.Hell dont forget your on a banshee also, if someone is doing 45 in a 55 I will not think twice about passing their ass up. In a safe manner of course. This a Bullshit thread we all do it and we will continue to do it lets man up and pay our fines this a waste of time MANUP
deerekillr
Sorry to get off topic, but why are so many of the people on this site such hard-ons lately? I know that nobody cares about his ticket or that what he did wasn't exactly legal or "safe". But I mean, come on, I bet 90% of the people on this site have ridden on a public road on their quad at some point. He was just blowing off some steam with some people that he thought would understand. Chill out... Amen to that brother. If theres anyone here thats never done anything illegal or just plain fucking wrong, got cought, then complained about getting cought then they ought to be wearing a white collar and fondleing little boys in the confessional booth! Lets all lighten the fuck up, this is a message board for fucks sake, if you dont like what your reading then hit the big "X" in the top right corner of your screen and it all goes away, then go punch your old lady if your that upset and see how that works out for ya! Now lets get back to talking about the amazing performance gains of boost bottles.....
Mjv420
The DNR here are just a bunch of average joes that make 8$/hour. They stay over at Lincoln State Park which is about a 12 mile stretch from where I live. Next week I have to finish up over 100hrs of commuity service over there working with them and im not looking forward to it. Anyways you got the ticket, I agree with bansheeeman from san diego on this one, its really up to the officer whether or not you were in violation of possibly creating a hazard. I know its Indiana though, I think that all the time
dajogejr
Yeah, I know he was blowing off steam...fine. But he's complaining about getting a ticket by breaking the law... We have laws, you break them, you get fined....that's the way it is. Do I agree with them? Nope....back in the day you could ride on the shoulder, no issue. A cop might stop you to BS for a while. I can remember a cop stopping myself, dad, uncle and cousin....all riding into town to get breakfast. He pulled us over to talk about our three wheelers, what we thought...and he was thinking about buying his kids one. He didn't even tell us not to drive on the road, warning, NOTHING. Have a great day, be safe....was all he said. The UP (Upper Peninsula) has legalized riding ATVs on the shoulder in most counties... Northern lower peninsula has some counties where it is legal as well. In our UP, Snowmobiling is king, they cater to them. Big Buisness. But that's only a few months a year...and the businesses struggle otherwise. They've realized..by opening up the trails, being more "ATV Friendly" they will get more buisness, etc. It's ALL about the money, is my point. Sheeblue, only been to traffic court twice? Lucky you.....trust me. LOL.

mdhc500
speak for yourself, my man. no illegal doings here. You too huh?... You have never broken a law ever while riding an ATV... And speak for myself? I never said I was breaking any laws... Have I ever? I'm sure I have, I'm sure I've gone faster than what the DCNR would consider a safe operating speed, but I ride sober, I ride the trails I'm allowed to ride, and I stay off the roads and trails that are not designated ATV trails. By law breaking I dont mean doing a wheelie with a beer between your legs down a highway... Edited August 21, 2008 by mdhc500
shanYE west
Nope.. I even got into a head on collision with a 660 grizzly and totaled out my newly restored 250r... didn't break a law while doing that.. Thats probably why most of us frown upon people breaking laws and getting caught.. then bitching about it.. We have a hard enough time dealing with the tree huggers and we dont need illegal actions from people throwing fuel on their fire to close down more of our riding area's.. I got a 200mile trail system 15min from my house.. I'd like to keep it that way.
bigboybanshee
You are right, the dude was just blowing off some steam... Also, I would bet more that 90% have done something illegal on their quads... Another speak for yourself, I don't ride either of my quads on the street. It's not worth the risk of having my bike impounded and above all, I know it's illegal therefore I do my part and keep the bikes in areas they are allowed to be in... The more you folks ride down the street and let cops chase you, create more court cases, etc. the more they'll frown on us and it gives the city more ground to close riding spots...because they put us all in the same category and figure if one asshole is irresponsible, then we must all be irresponsible. It's sad but true, this kind of shit is why our riding areas are shutting down more and more...hence, why I get so irritated reading about this crap on the net...which also gives city officials a place to come copy all this info down and take it to court as evidence. I have a huge trail that's about 100 yards from my house, it's in riding distance from my place but I don't do it cause I'd have to ride up a street about 300 feet and cross through a couple intersections...even though it's an inconvenience, I load my bike in the truck and park behind a dept store up the street and drop in there, since the trails run right behind it and I don't break any laws by doing so... It's a matter of respecting the laws and respecting others that share the same hobby...to the state, we're all the same, so what you do DOES impact other people... Those are the illegal activities we are talking about right? or are we talking about robbing liquor stores and vandalizing the public while we are out riding our atvs? :teehee:
dajogejr
You have never broken a law on your quad??? Blantently? no.... I have done stupid shit on 100% private property...that's my business...and the land owner's business. I was going from one snowmobile trail to the other (IN the middle of summer) and I crossed a dirt road. Came to find out Snowmobile trails are NOT ORV trails. DNR was cool about it...but gave me the ticket for riding on a public seasonal road. I honestly thought a snowmobile trails was ok to ride on on an ATV as long as you have (had) a legal ORV sticker, helmet, etc.... Nope... He let us ride the bikes back to camp a mile or two away....and I sucked it up and paid the fine. I've ridden in gravel pits with the owner's permission, with the understanding if someone around complains and calls the cops, we leave. No iffs ands or buts. Once or twice somone called (because some dipshit went out of the pit down the road) where we had to leave.... As long as you're not drunk acting like an ass....and being sincere...normally you get a fine if that. Start being an ass, just like getting pulled over by the po po, you reap what you sow (And I'm not saying you guys are...just saying that in a general sense...) Do you even know them all for your state. Again, I dont ride while drunk/drinking, I dont trespass, I dont ride on Trails or Roads that are not the approved ATV trails, but I'm almost certian there are codes that I violate in my state that I may not be aware of, and I was just trying to bust the balls of you Mother Theresa's on Banshee's... Thats all... Oh an if you live or ride in Michigan, and you own and ride a Banshee I'm certain you have broken these two laws... LOL In any area in a manner so as to create an erosive condition At a rate of speed greater than that which is reasonable and proper Edited August 21, 2008 by mdhc500
