mdhc500
Ehh, had to edit my post there, wanted to throw in a few more things. But I know law enforecement is a sensitive issue. (just like everything else) For a long long time I would stand up for my local police departments any day of the week. I was a PBA supporter, had uncles/cousins in the local PD, many cop friends. Now Ive become so disallusioned with the cops around here, Ive not donated to the PBA since 2002, and I refuse to deal with the police unless I simply have to. Like I said, I dont know if the thread starter is right/wrong or how he approached the cop. But I could definately see this situation going either way from a punk kid to a now it all cop. I was only commenting on yes DNR suck, and gave my encounter with my friendly neighborhood DCNR. Thats where I cant figure out how I became the whiney punk???? If I broke a law for any reason I would pay the fine if I was in the wrong. It's called manning up... Does that mean I like some of the laws, or some the LEO's? No... A LEO cannot charge you with a crime in PA, they can only enfore the statutes as they understand them and the Majistrate decides if there is enough evidence that a law has been broken, and DA's office prosecutes on behalf of the state. To many of these LEO's of any flavor get so jaded by they scum they deal with that they think everyone is trying to get one over on them so they are always defensive, or they have some big huge power trip... They are not all bad... But I can "personally" say I have never had a pleasant encounter with a DCNR or DNR officer... Here is another point... Last Summer we were coming back from a trip to a State Park and my wife an I saw I Red Tail hawk that got hit by a car... It was off to the side of the road and had a hurt wing. We went to the Ranger Station which was about 1/4 mile from the spot we saw the bird. The DCNR officer in there basically said there was nothing he could do and it wasnt his problem. I asked if he could contact or give the number to the State Game Commision and he said no... He didnt have a phone book. He would not let me use his phone either to try and get the bird rescued... So by the time I got cell phone coverage and contacted the Game Commision the bird got plastered again and was dead... This is my angst... LiftdT4R
I was under the impression we were talking about breaking laws on ATV's? Ohh, ok, well, I cant say that I dont go for the occasional spin on the street. But yea, guess Im pretty clean on ATVs. It just really bothers me here because when you break a law I dont think that it always warrants a ticket. I think sometimes a simple error on your part only warrants a verbal or written warning to drive the point home. But there are cops that will try their best to pound you with tickets, and I see this becoming more and more frequent. MDHC, I read your post, and I agree with you there, I would have done the exact same thing if a renegade cop tried to bust me for riding an ATV on my own propoerty. Actually sounds like cops in NJ. I didnt read all the posts because the thread is so damn long, but I can see where your comin from though.

If a cop drives by and see's me giving my boys a ride.. he can give me a ticket.. And he could give me a ticket for not having a helmet on even if its on my private property.. Might just be MI law.. If they suspect suspicious activity.. they can trespass.. I could be out in my blind hunting. and a DNR officer could park in my drive way.. and walk through my property if he wanted too and all he'd have to to is make up a story that there was suspicious activity.. its bullshit... You dont even have to be registered with the state...

bronco91shee
i do agree. som DNR are punk ass ppl who think they are on a power trip. i have seen it many times over teh years, and assumed it was becasue of my young age. though i do see a common trend that the annyoning ones are always young or new to the job. the older seasoned ppl, never seem to give me much of a problem. lil things here and there, i know where my fault. but could have been a lil easier on it. i personally have never had a ticket from DNR. so thats good as to the cops, for the most part i defend them cuz they do ahve a shity job to deal with so many bad ppl every day. its gotta be hard. i ave only been pulled over 3 times. all my fault. no doubt bout it! teh first time the guy let me off, cuz my mother just happen to see what happened, and she came running up rippin me a new asshole. the cop said he coulndt compete, so he left. teh second one....she was cool. i was late for curfew and she just asked me to slow down. saw her several times again,a dn she never pulled me over again. teh third...i rolled slowly thru a stop sign at 3 am. the guy was a real dick. i know i was wrong. no dount. i accpet the ticket-totaly fair. but the guy was a real jerk. i think he saw my college name on the back of truck and just assumed i was a punk ass kid. dint say anthing, other than here's your ticket. my first time gettinone, so i asked who do i call and how to i handle it...he just said read it and walked away...wtf? all i wanted was some help on how to take care of my mistake.....dang...jerk. eh fourth cop....was i think profiling me... i was in a bad neighborhood with my tinted windows up. he pulled me over late at night. he was all stern and stuff, until she shown the light on my face. by this point 3 other cop cars had shown up to surrond me. then he cahnged his voice, just said...did you know you have a light out? i said no.....he was like, ok. get that fixed and have a good nite....tehn all 4 cars turned off their spot lights and left.....me thinks they expected a drug dealer or to have a gun or sumthing...dang. that was profiling in reverse i think...lol just my stories......i defend most law enforcement. but sum are dicks every day...i honelty beleive that otehrs are just having a bad day, or just had enough bullshit for one day adn they wrongfully take it out on the next guy....i just try to keep that in mind when im dealing with them.....we all have bad days... bigboybanshee
There will always be people who complain about everything... Not my deal... I worry about myself,as I am only responsible for myself and my actions. I really don't expect you to understand, simply cause you really don't understand much of anything...but it's actions like yours, and anyone that acts like a fool, that bring up ideas to change laws, or close riding areas...So, guess what, that means your ignorance DOES affect more than just you, but you're too narrow minded and self centered to realize that... It's called having respect for others and the law...something you know very little about
