Jive Turkey
I took this Banshee for a ride yesterday and I was hoping to be impressed by the power and speed, I walked away unimpressed. This Banshee I believe has carb issues because when you start out from a dead stop you have to feather the shit out of the throttle to keep it from stalling also one exhaust seems to put out more smoke and more pressure than the other side under gentle acceleration could the carbs be out of sync? The person selling it told me he had it to the shop a couple of months ago and the mech tuned one carb differently (lower idle) from the other one. Once you accelerate into the power band area it seems fine but unimpressive for what I thought a Banshee should be. Anyhow the guy wants 2k for it should I walk away or if it is not a deal breaker get the carbs in syc and see what happens? I am a mechanic with 11 years exp in construction equipment and medium sized trucks with shit for exp on 2 strokes but I am sure it wouldn't be a problem to learn them. Any and all advice welcome. xXBlessedWithDeathXx
Is it a stock banshee? and if the carbs are not in sync it will run like shit. 2 G is not that bad if its a decent bike but sync the carbs first.
Jive Turkey
It is not stock I was told that it has been punched out but he doesn't know any specs, he bought it from the person who had the work done.
xXBlessedWithDeathXx
well, if its not stock and he said one carb is set different from the second i would get that fixed and then give it a shot. i cant say much seeing i dont know what the bike has but i can say them carbs need to be in sync. Too bad you dont have pics of it so we could check it out a little better, I got my 97 for 1800 out the door. And that was from a dealer pure stock and in decent shape, actually good shape. You can always find a better deal, prolly someone on here has one close to ya.
BenBB
It is not stock I was told that it has been punched out but he doesn't know any specs, he bought it from the person who had the work done. Sounds like the current owner is clueless, no telling what kind of damage he's done; you could make a low offer or walk, but something ain't right with the current state of tune. Carbs out of sync will have the most affect right off idle up to about 3/4 throttle, could be that and/or simply a clogged jet on one side, could be worse like worn/broken ring on one side or crank seal, head gasket, broken reed or ripped reed cage boot (etc. etc.). Even with a few bolt-ons from stock it oughta pull hard from a dead stop...'course most of the power is at the upper RPM's so it's not anything like riding your garden-variety 4-stroke... travis6767
it sounds like it may have low compression in the one cylinder. ask him if you can do a compression check? and go from there

LiftdT4R
Id stay away for 2k. You can pick up Bnahsees in good running condition all day here in the north east for $1500-1600, just keep your eyes open. You don't want to pick up a basket case, youll be kicking yourself again and again.

THATS NO DEAL , PLUS IF HE HAD ANY CLUE HE WOULD HAVE THE BIKE RUNNING GOOD, HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS GUY EVEN MIXED THE 2 STROKE OIL MIX CORRECT ???? IT SOUNDS LIKE A DEAD PISTION ..
