Black01Shee
My chain was really lose and i also installed a 13 tooth in the front so it eas even looser after that, so i pulled a link and now its really tight, even after the adjusters are all the way out. There is about 1/2 inch of play on the top part of the chain between the front and back sprocket, should i be worried? will it loosen up eventually from riding? 2004LEBanshee
If its too tight. It can stretch or it can let go. Id becarefull about it being too tight. A little tight is probably ok but too much could be bad. If you want I think you can grind our the holes that the carrier bolts move in to all it to be adjusted to a looser setting. LiftdT4R
1/2 inch is probably too tight you should be more like 1.5". Loosen the carrier bolts and adjust it out, it only takes a few minutes. If your out of adjustment I'd just run it, not the end of the world. I've seen people run with no slack, youll just wear out the chain a lot sooner. The adjustment is already at the loosest setting. Edited August 4, 2008 by Black01Shee
shee rips
or worse than wearing a chain, it can take out your carrier bearings or the countershaft bearing. i ended up buying a new chain after my carrier bearings went like 2 rides after taking a link out and having no slack. i was used to the dirtbike where it doesnt even have to be adjusted all the way out to take up the difference of one link. the banshee has to be adjusted all the way, and super loose before it wil do it. my .
Black01Shee
I have a little slack its not super tight, like i said theres about 1/2 inch of chain movement.
MILO
unless you are hitting a bunch of big jumps, and are just out for a normal trail ride or something, i'd say it would be ok. the chain will eventually stretch a little anyway. maybe just a little premature compared to normal. 1.5" of slack, damn, that seems too loose to me. i think you'll be fine with 1/2" bud. monster_energy06
here are yur options 1: get a half link 2: go down 1 or 2 teeth in the back sproket 3: grind down the slide hole a bit for more a justment 4: buy a new chain start all over again 5: run it as is, hope for the best Edited August 5, 2008 by monster_energy06
Black01Shee
first ill try #5, #3 wont work becuase i already loosened out the adjusters all the way and there was still a little clearance between the end of the adjusting bolt and the axle housing and i tried prying it to move it a little more but it wont, its defenetly at its loosest setting so the next step ill do is #4 if this chain dont work out. thanks for your help guys
