exhaust snap

Recommended Posts

I had to re-do the orings on my coolhead due to not re-torquing. I won't make that same mistake, thanks to everyone for their input, the nuts did back off and loosen. Problem fixed! But the problem I have now is that the right side pipe has a snapping sound too it. It is quite abit cooler by about 10 degrees celcius. Would that be a jetting/lean problem? It ran strong and fast last time, and now this?

That's probably a jetting problem. Assuming the hotter cylinder isn't running lean. Then the cooler cylinder is running richer. Lean means hotter. So your probably putting a little extra fuel into that cyclinder if it's cooler. As far as the snapping sounds, it's tough to say. Does it definately sound different then the other cylinder?

Also, 10 degrees celsius is around 50 degrees farenheight, which is a decent difference. I would take off the carbs, and make sure you have the same jets/needles/clip position on both carbs. Also, have you removed the TORS? Now would be a good time. Then synch the carbs, at least youll have that problem eliminated.

Thanks. I read today what i posted last night and i don't know if it was exhaust fumes or what??

But the 10 degrees difference was in the outside temp. The TORS are removed, I am pretty sure now that it is a jetting problem. I will drop a size and see what happens. I just don't know why it run great and now have that snapping sound, because it sounds different. I'll try swapping plugs and see what happens?

10 degrees celsius doesnt equate to 50 degrees fahrenheit across the board. 10 degrees C does make 50 degrees F, but when you raise 10 to 20 the change in F goes from 50 to 68

the differance is about 1.8 degrees F for every 1 degree C
