problems with pt mids

Recommended Posts

so i bought a set of pt mids used i received them today and tried to mount them and immediatly ran into problems. It seems like the top of the pipe is hitting the frame preventing me from bolting them up. i thought the may be for a j arm frame so i called duncan and they said they are al the same. so my question is has any one else had these problems? any tips? it seems like the top of thepipe needs to be dented to clear the frame??

its an awkward fit for any pipe especially those, you just have to be patient and try every possition and twist turn etc it just takes some playing around

Are you sure the left pipe is on the left side and vice versa? Got a pic of the issue?

There was a guy on here awhile back that had a problem with a set he got on ebay. They were an older set and they would not fit. I think they were also made for a j-arm frame.

There is a thread on here about it.

Are they hitting the diagnol frame support? Im pretty sure that is one of the differences between frames.

A trick I use on mine to make them fit is only use the hanging bolt on the silencers. It's the top one nearest to the back of the bike. Forget about the other 2 (the stud and lower rear). Most silencers only use 1 bolt anyway. This has worked for me in the past, next time I have the silncers off I'm going to grind off the stud, and lower tab.
