dude, take half a day and swap parts with a buddy who has a banshee, things like the stator, coil etc... eliminate the possibility of it being electrical.

if you installed the timing plate yourself, maybe you messed something up there? pick up gap?

if its definitely jetting, go over the basics again. you already have a range of pilots and mains. buy some different needles if you have to, they are like $6??

Are your filters clean? Do you run outerwears? I had a similar problem, Messed with my sons bike for what seemed like eternity. Finally got it running good. Then the last time out it just took a dump. I took the outerwears off the k & N's and it ran strong as hell. Check all the little stuff.

I got it running good today, put 50 pilotys in it with 155 mains. CEL on 4th clip, 1.5 turns out on screws.

That is the sweetest spot I can find.

But it still has the bottom end lag. Talked with Kevin, and another guy locally. I tested my compression today after I bought a tester at uto Zone. 184 PSI on left, 185 PSI on right.

Both Kevin Herr and vthe local machine guy who knows banshees well both agree my 116 octane could be too high. Also, the +6 timing may be too much. The local machine shop guys thinks with that PSI in the cylinders, it could be burning that high octane too slow. I agree...

That might be what is causing the mid/low bog. Fuel is burning too slow.

NEXT STEP IN MY GAMEPLAN: burn all this good fuel as gast as I can. Only have 1/2 tank, maybe less left. Get some 112 and mix it with 93 pump to get 104ish. The put that in. Ifg nothing, bump the timing down a hair, maybe +4. One step at a time.

That is where I am right now. Alot better mindset since I slept off such a bad day yesterday. :banghead:

I did manage to get it running pretty good, just still bad on the bottom end. But once she is going, she is ripping hard. Lined up with a honda 450r that had a high compression piston, cam filters pipe and 490 bore. Only needed 4 gears to have him by 7 bikes.

The banshee runs, it does. Just that bottom end bog/lag it has. I am thinking the fuel is burning too slow with that compression. Both me and Kevin thought it was going to be higher with the 17cc domes and the +6 timing. But it's not, and I can get away with 103-105 octane.

Today was much better... thanks everyone for your help. Furthur assistance would be greatly appreciated. :thanks:

What do you guys think about that? Could it be too much octane?

116 I was running mixed 36:1. PSI was 185. Could that be it? Or the timing too high? Although Kevin does say it is a common setup, but for what I need it for... I need some bottom end to get started on the hills around here. Without it I am bogging my ass backwards. So maybe +4 instead of +6?

I just needed to get away from it. I slept good last night, woke up on the right side of the bed in a good mood. Had a positive outlook on it today. Got it jetted right in it's sweet spot, but it's not jetting.

Those are the two things we will be checking next. If I can't get this to go on +6 timing on the bottom just a tad, I am going to have Butch "00tbanshee" look at it as all his buddies and himself are running Kevin's motors and +6 timing.

That is great to hear man, I figured you would have a change in mindset after a goodnights rest and some patience today.Thats pretty cool 4th gear and 7 bike lengths YEA!

When we built this motor, I wanted as much top end as possible. I am going to keep the +6 timing if I could... but if I must, I will drop it down. I like the power it has once you are on it. It is tough to beat once you have it ripping. It stays on it too.... doesn't fall off.

Just the low end. I'll get it figured out.

Yea... I just had a REALLY, REALLY BAD day yesterday.

Once I get it going, it's gone... kiss her goodbye. But the bottom/mid power has a bog. Is is hesitating before it hits the top. Once on the top, if you keep it revved out, it is a fun toy. She ran awesome today, besides the bog I speak of. That Honda didn't stand a chance. I mean I completely let off the throttle in the middle of 4th and lookked back and he was just out of sight by at least 7 bikes, maybe more. And that was a 450 with a rider on it that can ride it too. The bike had alot of work done to it, but just couldn't compete with this motor.

Once I get this lag out of it, it will be good because I won't have to clutch it at the bottom of hills.

Like I said, jetting is not the problen. I found the sweet spot. And it loves the needle on the 4th clip too.

But I gotta get this bog on the bottom fixed so I can get her on video at Coal Hill or Mile Hill.

I want to hear your opinions on the too high octane with 185 lbs.

Like I said, I was running and still am 116 octane on 185 per cylinder. Can that cause that hesitation since the fuel is burning too slow/ Both me and Kevin thought it would be higher, that's why I was running that high of Octane.

What do you think?

Just curious are you getting any oil spitting out the silencers, and what do the plugs look like are they wet?
