Wich engine kit?

Recommended Posts

hey guys this is my first post

i've rode banshee's alot but never really modded, there no such thing as modded bikes around here, the most i've seen is like v-force,full exhaust and lil things, never really any motor things.

i've been searching the web like mad for the past week looking for engine kits, it looks like cheetah is the way to go for performance and price

Now this is what i want,

to run on pump gas 91 if possible

60hp to about 80-90hp, nothing less then 60hp

affordable!!

FAST!!!!!!!!!

i'd rather not change my carbs

its for climbing, fast roads and open spaces, asphalt drags

i was looking at these for a start, let me know the good and bad

http://www.rjatv.com/index.asp?PageAction=...amp;ProdID=2771

or something like this, with the head and all but stock crank

http://www.bansheedepot.com/proddetail.asp?prod=LAS409

something similar to those, and i have a few more bookmarked, just to give you an idea of what im looking for

is there really that much of a difference between a 4mm crank and a stock one in an identical engine kit???for the price of a crank?, would you be able to tell them apart by wacthing them drive around in the hills????

or is there a complete different kit for me?

any opinion or suggestion is greatly appreciated

Either one of those kits would work well, but you'll need carbs if you want 80 + Hp. At least 34mm.

As for the crank, yes a 4mill does make a huge difference, like night & day. My bud has a stock stroke cheetah and I have a 4 mill. I run rings around him. If you buy a engine kit you should buy a new crank anyway so go with the 4 mill.

I saw a few guys on here say that with the cub kits you loose all your bottom end,

but i dont want that, i also want the bottom end

How would i get 60-70hp with good bottom end too????

sorry for the long post, it was very early in the morning

If you want the bottom end to. Go with a cheetah power valve. It's the only way to go.

I think the 4 mm is the way to go as well...

Thanks guys,

I guess its fairly easy to get 60hp from a banshee, i always thought it took alot

does a 4mm crank fit in a stock engine?

before i heard of cheetah and t-rex kits i was thinking of doing this,

vito's 400 piston and sleeves, 4mill crank and a NOSS machine head? how much HP would that make??

that setup should make good torque, or should i just spend the extra money and buy a cheetah power valve with the 4 mill for the extra $

the only thing it has now is a full FMF exhaust, is that not good enought with a cheetah?

MarineNYC,How come? just too small for the cheetah or they wont fit on the cylinder?

the more i search the more i understand the cheetah engine kits, i think they produce more power then i thought

i want to keep this stuff if possible for now, im on a budget

stock swingarm

stock carbs

FMF exhaust

whats the biggest i can go with the 3 thing i've listed^^^?????????????

i will evently upgrade all of it but not now

i think the cheetah 421 is too much for me, i kinda got that from a post i read in the sand forum, its about a guy whos not sure of how much longer he wanted hes swingarm, most guys said +6 is not enough for the 421 with the 4mil, wich is the kit i was looking at

i drove a buddys stock banshee with a +8 swinger and theres no way the front is coming off the ground for any reason and anywhere

what about this??? vito's 400 piston and sleeves, 4mill crank and a NOSS machine head?

would i be able to run this with stock carbs?? how much HP???

how would that^ compare to the cheetah kit with stock crank

i want something that absolutly kills the 450's

please help me out here

God I love these threads lol.

Big bore kits are the biggest waste of money ever unless you're going to spend alot of extra money getting them ported out, then they can be worthwhile.

Just send your stockers off to get them play ported and run it. I'd recommend Kevin at HJR, Jim at Passion, Jeff at Fast. Most of the guys off here will have a quicker turn-around then teh big names.

Well, Just like alot of the other guys have said, I would recomend going with a 4mil crank and a good port job (F.A.S.T) on your stock cylinders, especially if you want to stick with your stock carbs and FMF pipes. With this type of set-up, you will easily hit your 60-70hp mark. I am 6'3", 260# and I run a 4mil with play port on stock bore cylinders, and 'shee halls the mail... even with my big ass on it! You are just throwing away good money (and bottom end) with those big bore kits. And with a big bore, you have to think about how you are going to cool those big cylinders... $400 radiator? Start small, if you need more power after a few years, upgrade your carbs and bump up the compression. Then, if you are still not happy, buy a PV Cheetah set-up.

thanks guys, i didnt think its that easy to get 60-70hp

thats one thing i was worried about getting cheetah cylinders, its all the other thing you gotta buy,carbs,rad,exhaust.....

what about the vito's 400 piston and sleeve kit, its only 400$,

would that give me any extra power with the port job and a 4mil

would that kill me on price to send my stock ones away for a port job, im in Ontario, Canada, because wherever i choose to send it , its going to be a good ways away

so F.A.S.T, Passion and HJR is the way to go for port jobs, i'll have to give them a call

thanks

How would a 60-70hp banshee compare to a 450's???

Honestly if your going to spend the money on a aftermarket cylinder go with a cheetah or a cub. They are by far the best bang for the buck and have the most potential. If your only looking for a 60 hp i would def choose a good builder and just do a good port job but you have to understand with almost every modification you do you create another issue. For instance if you get a good port job you really need a head to get the compression and squish where your builder recommends. You are def going to have a hand full of a bike if you build a 80 horse bike with the stock swinger. For the money i would build a 68x54 cub if you have a good stock crank now and a 68x58 if you need a crank. Will they work with the fmf's yes they will bolt up and run but not to the full potential of the cylinder. And once you hit that 70+ mark your start really affecting clutch life especially if you ride in the sand much with out a lockup. A 68x54 cub will bolt right on to your stock setup and with a head and a tad bit of timing will make 70 hp fairly easy with your fmf's and stock carbs on pump gas and have the potential to make 85 maybe 100 if you go 4mm with the correct setup.
