dsmrx7 Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Here's my Banshee I picked up last November 07'. It was not that pretty, but it ran. Here's when I broke the handlebars (too aggresive with it)... I replaced the bars and painted the plastics. Then I Raced the Bike a couple of times, but mostly used it for Trail Riding... About 8 month's later, while Riding at Area 51, the motor seized. I removed the head and this is what I found... The pistons were cracked and a piece of piston ring broke off and got wedged between the cylinder and piston.... Quote
dsmrx7 Posted July 13, 2008 Author Report Posted July 13, 2008 So I ordered a new set of Oversized Pistons with matching Cylinders and a new head (not pictured)... Old cylinders (orange) and new cylinder... New pistons installed... Here's the newly Painted Frame... Here's the Bike re-assembled with new Front and Rear Sprockets, new Chain and newly painted Plastics... Compression test on the rebuilt Motor is 135 psi on both Cylinders... Quote
snowmanzz13 Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 not prettt compared to most of the bikes on here, but at least you are riding it like its supposed to be ridden! and plus, your riding a banshee so that just makes you amazing Quote
2strokespirit Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Good job, I supposed you've split the cases to clean it out. If there is the smallest bit of piston remains in there, your crank bearings will be toast in the first few minutes of riding.. Good luck!!! Quote
keeks707 Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Thats a big change! looks good man! Quote
278 Posted July 13, 2008 Report Posted July 13, 2008 Good job bro... we all gotta start some where. Mine was in almost just as bad of shape but all stock... I bought it a few months ago and have been nickle and diming it back together. Its almost done now just waiting for an exhaust piece and for some sun so I can finish painting the plastics. Its nice to see some one else starting out with almost nothing and seeing what theyve done Quote
BansheeKid15 Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 The ugly bikes are sometimes the most fun to ride because you dont have to worry about them at all. Ride it, beat it... Quote
dsmrx7 Posted July 14, 2008 Author Report Posted July 14, 2008 Thanks Guys. This was the first Quad I've owned. I made sure that I removed all the piston pieces before reassembly. This Bike is kind of my Beater. Here's my other Quad that I've modded... An 05' Raptor 660 Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 That would be a bitch to polish them cases...lol Quote
D-man Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 you could always get rid of the craptor and take that money and put it into the banshee. Quote
atvfreestylekid Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 you could always get rid of the craptor and take that money and put it into the banshee. Could not have said it better myself  . Sorry dude. Wrong place to show a raptor. Quote
mdhc500 Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 An ugly Banshee is still better than a "pretty" Craptor... Quote
D-man Posted July 17, 2008 Report Posted July 17, 2008 raptor is like a cheap hooker with every disease known to man.an ugly banshee is a high class whore that spends the night and washes your car. Quote
