Oversized radiators

Recommended Posts

I think I will invest into one... what do you guys think? Do they cool better? Is there any other work that needs to be done with the cooling system, or anything else in general, other than just bolting them on?

I was looking into a BOSS

Yeah it'll help out i personally like em' better than the stock radiators but that's only if your sticking with gas if you run alky or want to in the future i wouldn't get it since alky will help run cooler anyway. That's why i didn't get one all i did was clean mine out real good strip the paint and will use my stock one since i'm gonna run alky. I also didn't like the price tag on them either i think there way over priced.

You won't believe how much crap gets in between the fins on the radiator too if you gonna stick with it i'd take it off and clean it up real good it will help a little bit.

I have a Pro designe on mine. It helped out a bunch. I do some trail riding and playing around at a hill climb when I go riding. I dont really even have to worry about it overheating now. I would run engine Ice too. If you get a larger radiator you will need 2 jugs.

dajo was selling 3 boss radiators on ebay. 299 with free shipping. My PD was 375 shipped so it is a pretty good deal.

Dont waste your money, they do nothing, Water wetter also does nothing. Billit impeller helps a little. Best way to keep it cool is ride it really f-in fast!!

So increasing the surface area of the radiator and increasing capacity of the cooling system does nothing?

My banshee ran ran 190 tearing down gravel roads. Now that I have my pd radiator it runs 160. It runs 180 trail riding off the pipe at slow speeds.

i'm tellin ya. I made zero difference with my bike. I got the Torch Works rad in mine. It's a little bigger, it nicer, but I saw no difference in Running temp. I have two temp gauges, one on each line so I know my gauges are correct. I've talked to other people on here who said the same thing. I should have listened.

I have the toomey radiator with my 421 cub motor. It does make a difference but it only keeps it from overheating for a hair longer than with the stock radiator. If I were you I'd do the billet impeller and engine ice first, that will also make a noticeable difference for under $100 compared to $300+ for a radiator.

I am with JB, bigger cooling service, helps out a lot on the slower trails, never overheats with the pro design. There is a lot of guys that say if your bike overheats with a stocker, you have other issues or jetting issues, nonsense, you can be jetted spot on, but on the slower trails it will overheat on a very hot day and its there where the oversize rad comes in very handy.. I do some fast cross country in SA and on a hot day in the desert, 50 degrees C it will run very hot (not overheat) on wide open throttle, and the jetting is spot on. With the oversize it just runs cooler for sure...

It made my banshee run cooler. Maybe all aftermarket radiators arent equal. I got the PD one because it was the biggest looking one. Has big end tanks and and barly fits under the radiator cover. It takes 1 and 1/4 jugs of engine ice to fill up, where the stock one can be fill with just a little over 3/4 of a jug.

And it is bare aluminum instead of painted aluminum.
