I've never done a meet. I'm looking at this one to pop my cherry.

I lift RAW and weigh 205 right now. I'm not sure I could get down 198 and maintain full strength but damn, there will be some big guys in 220.

Do you want me to hook you up with Joel, our s&c coach? I know he work with people online reviewing lift by vidéo etc.

Also I think that is a good idea to come in at your natural weight imo. I think weight cuts mess guys up too much and take the fun out of it. I competed in the 181 class and I would just come in around 173. You will still have fun even though your lifting in a bigger class.

DDQ, if you don't already have someone doing your programming, look into doing jonnie canditos 6 week strength program. I ran that after my first meet and make a ton of progress, just a thought. It's a peaking program for a meet.

Bluebanshee, you still doing shows?

I've left the dark road of bodybuilding for good, and am committed to traveling the righteous path of powerlifting.

I'm aiming for my first meet this winter and hope I can total 1200.

No shows just doing it for myself now. It doesn't have to be a dark road. Why was it such a dark road for you? Good luck on the powerlifting meet. I'm sure you'll have fun. Make sure to warm up properly as injurys can really suck and set you back

Is over head press usually one of the lifts in a power lifting event? I assumed it was bench, squats, deadlifts.

Thanks, I've got a guy reviewing my lifts and setting my programming online. He's going to coach me through the meet prep when it gets closer.

Are you doing full power? If so get you a pair of strong knee sleeves from mark bell of super training

Also I got a pair of Nike romeloes squat shoes (190 bucks) that I'm trying to get rid of if your interested. 80 bucks

I'm happy with my Adidas shoes. I'll get some wraps if they are allowed in the class I enter but I don't need them for all my training

Strong sleeves aren't wraps, they are knee sleeves. All Raw lifting Feds allow sleeves. If you do end up using wraps though, be sure to train with wraps leading up to a meet, it's totally different doing raw and then doing raw with wraps.
