Twistedtrik
Anybody else ever have this happen? I washed my Shee the other day and noticed the frame mounting tabs on my CPI's are cracked damn near all the way across. I could weld them but then it will fuck up the chrome. Pisses me off that I spent that much money on these and they are cracked.
sinisterboo
I have 2 sets, and one set has had both pipes re-welded on the tab, and they were the Cascade show chrome! sucks, just make sure you dont have the pipes in a bind when mounted, like against the head or anything. Now Im gonna be pissed if I go out and look at my other set and find a crack!
Twistedtrik
I checked and they are clear of the frame etc. I am using stock mounting brackets that have been drilled and bolted. I guess I have no choice but to weld them and fuck up the chrome. I can't ride with them like this.
okbeast
Weird how they have so many problems. A good welder should be able to do it and not affect much of the surrounding area, I've wondered if a good braize woudl be strong enough. Do you have all your motor mounts on so the bike will rattle as little as possible?
Twistedtrik
I own a race fab shop and am a welding instructor at the college here so That's not much of an issue. Problem is when it is welded the heat can be controlled as to no screw up the chrome too much but you still have a bare weld that will rust as soon as moisture hits it. I could Mexican chrome ( chrome in a can ) the weld but then that doesn't match the chrome.

I know when I got my t5s they gaurantee the workmanship not to be defective and thats about it. I had a 4 stroke with white brothers that cracked on the mount and they replaced it with a new one, worth a shot! Unless they specified like Toomey did. lilmegill727
yeah that really sucks what happened. and you paid extra for that shiny cascade chrome. hope cpi or cascade can send you a new one
Twistedtrik
They are only a couple of months old. I am going to contact CPI and let them know what the pipes are doing and see what they will do. If not i guess i am stuck with welding them. Twistedtrik
Will do, I seriously doubt they will do anything about it. I will see though.
jbooker82
What type of front hangers do you have? Bracket that mounts to the broken tab? josh
Twistedtrik
I use the stock hangers but they have been drilled center and bolted together and then they mount into both stock ( pipe and frame ) locations.
jbooker82
you might make sure that it is loosley bolted together. I had a pair of modd quad hangers. I never put them on because they are just rigid. I could see them breaking the pipe tabs pretty easly. I have a pair of TM Designworks. they have a ruber insert. okbeast
I had some rigid mounts and didnt have problems with my t-5's, it did rattle a bolt out though. I'll probably throw some rubber bushings or O-rings on next time. Hopefully that'll help keep the pipes (if i get shearers or cpis) from hittnig the head too.
