YamahaMama
I'm personally used to twist throttles from riding dirtbikes so the thumb throttle has to go first. Freaking thumb killer that thing is, its pretty tight too. For all I know it could be a simple throttle cable adjustment issue but I dont think so. We cut a couple springs in the carbs for the thumb throttle and made it way easier. I dont remember exactly how many he cut but I think we did one at a time or something. pabansheematt
K, went with the majority vote. First impression after riding sunday. Open road thing just hauls ass wide open. All the power seems to be from slightly past half - 3/4 throttle and up (top end) not ideal range for hill climbing which is what I'll be doing most of the time. Had her in 2nd or 3rd gear on a 40/50 ft hill and thing just died half way up. Powerband just wouldnt grab quick enough and I stalled it. I need more bottom and mid range power. Shee definitley has balls, but still needs to be "Fine Tuned" to my riding style. Here are the mods again. Fast ported motor, 33 mm pwk, timing plate +4, new pistons and rings, cpi pipes, 15 or 16 tooth front sprocket. Hillclimbr, Go with the 14 tooth, and dont get rid of the CPI's. There about the best climbing pipe you can get. PS- Yes I jumped off, spun her around and saved it. But I hate it when I have to do that!

lilmegill727
good choice with that shee and just change the gearing and youll be better off changin the cpi's to toomeys or fmf's too, but nice bike
Washburn
Go down on the gearing. For hillclimbs youll do very well with CPIs cause they sign on with nice lowend at lower rpms and can rip your hands off after you open em up. CPIs are actualy a good all around pipe as well and they fetch cash used. I dont like them because they stick out a bit to much for the way I ride in the woods. Shearers GRRs and some other OOF pipes are just for high RPMs cause thats where they are needed if your going to drag race.
TeamRealtreeHD
Change the gearing... banshees are really sensitive to front sprockets, powerband delivery, etc. Hillclimbing is tricky when your sprockets are not set up for it. Hillclimbing is all I do... I have stock rear, 14 front with 22" dirt devils, plan to go to another tire though when these go balder
Meat
my 2 cents. keep the cpi's, drop a tooth and most importantly... like NYUK said... "get the feel for where the pipe comes on and learn to ride it." You have to stay on the pipe, I found with mine If I was in a gear too high, or for whatever reason that I was losing momentum or falling off the pipe, I'd just quickly lift my ass up off the seat, lean forward or do whatever it takes to get your weight off the rear tires, and at the same time twist the throttle hard, this will allow the tires to break traction and spin wildly and in a heartbeat your back on the pipe and holdin' on for dear life. Toomey Banshee
Agree with Meat. Drop a tooth on the front. On my black bike pictured with the CPI's I can lug around all day and once I hit the throttle shee takes off. Very similar to my stock 99 with T-5's. On the 02 that I bought from NYUK with CPI's, that I also bought from John you have to "ride" it, pretty much how he and Meat explained. I think I need to go bigger on the carbs. We run 33's now I think a set of 35's or even 39's are gonna be the ticket. As for the throttle get a throttle extender, it helped BIG time with the 02.
