Bought NYUK's Shee

Recommended Posts

K, went with the majority vote. First impression after riding sunday.

Open road thing just hauls ass wide open. All the power seems to be from slightly past half - 3/4 throttle and up (top end) not ideal range for hill climbing which is what I'll be doing most of the time. Had her in 2nd or 3rd gear on a 40/50 ft hill and thing just died half way up. Powerband just wouldnt grab quick enough and I stalled it. I need more bottom and mid range power.

Shee definitley has balls, but still needs to be "Fine Tuned" to my riding style. Here are the mods again.

Fast ported motor, 33 mm pwk, timing plate +4, new pistons and rings, cpi pipes, 15 or 16 tooth front sprocket.

I'm personally used to twist throttles from riding dirtbikes so the thumb throttle has to go first. Freaking thumb killer that thing is, its pretty tight too. For all I know it could be a simple throttle cable adjustment issue but I dont think so.

All that said, appreciate your insight on how to make this a killer hill climbing shee.

Thanks!

PS- Yes I jumped off, spun her around and saved it. But I hate it when I have to do that!

I agree, a 15 tooth front sprocket is going to put a pretty big spread between the gears if it's close to stock in the rear...more of a flat drag ratio. I would go to a 14 depending on the rear sprocket, maybe a 13 but they have me shifting quicker than I like.

You should probably trade those pipes for my T-5's too

If I didn't know better I'd say you're just trying to score a set of CPI's...lol

But, as much as I love mine I'll admitt that they are not real well known for making low to mid power. A set of T-5's would be better in the midrange for sure.

yeah i put a big front sprocket on there cause i set it up to ride wide open. less gear.and different pipes will help with the bottom. the carbs are 30 mm. and probably need to be dialed in a lil better.i am used to clutching it up to get moving. that don t bother me.you will either take the advice and get fatties or toomeys. or improvise adapt and overcome no bottom.you will get the feel for where the pipe comes on and learn to ride it.

Don't put any smaller than a 14 tooth...you'll be blowing through the gears if you do.

Pick up some Fatty, SST, T5 or Trinity pipes...that will move the power a little lower as said.

Those pipes are hot items, you will get top dollar for them....

Did you make sure NYUK didn't leave one of his butt plugs in a silencer?
