Mod Questions...

Recommended Posts

Here's some mods I want to do soon:

1. K&N - What would you reccommend for an '05 stock 'Shee?

2. T5s vs. T6s?

3. Boost bottle? (I've heard both sides: do it, it's cheap enough...and don't waste your money.)

I would also like to do V-Force 3 Reeds (whole assembly, not just replacement reeds.)

------

After that....what order should I do them in? I'd like to hold off on exhaust, and do intake first because of the price.

What other simple [bolt on type] things am I missing?

(I want to wait for porting, etc. a few months)

Bike will be for dirt road/sand/sand dune/street use.

Will NOT see water.

Will removing the pressurized stock airbox cause me to lose some low end drivability?

I'm going to port eventually...I'm just trying to stay out of motor work for now, since the bike is so new. I'm going to find a local shop that has a good reputation to do it, but I'm still kinda nervous about it.

I'll nix the boost bottle, and look into the adj. timing plate.

Will the cool/milled head change my required octane fuel?

Just ordered:

TORS Removal Kit.

K&N Pods w/ Outerwears.

Upcoming:

Reeds and Reed Cage (V-Force 3) [should I get a spacer also?]

Pipes (Toomey T5s)

no you dont need reed spacers.

i'd suggest getting the timing plate and cool head

before throwing down on the vforces.

21cc domes and advance the plate to +4.

Yep.

Reeds dont actually increase power much. They do make it more responsive though.

you should have baught larger jets since your getting pods.

my set up

pods, adjustible timing plate, v-force 3, t-6's, running stock pilot(25) and 320 mains, bike runs good at all levels of throttle

forget the boost bottle.

forget the intake and reeds until you get some pipes. i'd get pipes first and foremost... best bang for the buck by far and the reeds aren't going to do squat with the stock exhaust. If you want cheap filters, go to Rocky Mountain and order the cheap K&N pods for like $40 a pop and clamp them on.

i would say you should do this, in this order:

pipes

noss head (smaller cc domes)

intake

reeds

timing plate (can add at anytime really)

you'd be a lot happier
