PhantomMs1
Maybe I am just blind or not good at finding parts, but where can I find a new Steering Stem Bearing? Any Idea of how much they are? thanks!
KaosBanshee44
I got one you can have if you send me the yamaha tool that gets em out the frame...lol There a bitch to get out cause there is a opposite socket locking it in and the only way i can get it out is with a hammer and a screw driver. I'm sure you already know that since your needing a bearing. Make sure the steering stem collar is still on the bottom they fall out sometimes and if it's not there the stem moves up and down. They run 7 bucks from yamaha
PhantomMs1
yeah unfortunitly i do know about it..........bad thing is I learned about it after I had it powdercoated! so i have to probably get a punch tool to get it out huh? so is that the only way to get it directly from yamaha? maybe a frame up restoration wasnt such a good idea (sigh)...... KaosBanshee44
No it's not a big deal, your better off like i said getting a hammer and a screw driver and just slowly working that lock nut out then remove the bearing and just order one from your local yamaha dealer probably cost you 15-20 for the bearing and another 8-10 for that lock nut. I know it's just a steering stem bearing but i always replace em' if i have any doubt. Especially if it has powdercoat all on it...lol

Either bikebandit.com or rivamotorsports.com will have what your looking for. I tend to go with bikebandit.com because shipping is usually much quicker. They have a pretty good oem parts finder that gives a picture and name of everything you should be looking for. Hope this helps.

Either of those sites should have about every bolt/nut/bearing/gasket. I'm doing a frame up restore too and just got a complete bolt kit from alloyboltz.com. Pretty good stuff. Check that out too. okbeast
To get that reverse nut out find a bolt to fit it then use a pipe wrench. That's what I did.

That's also a good idea, just put two nuts on the bolt and bind the bottom nut to the top and start unscrewing.
PhantomMs1
very good idea, but that is a pretty hefty bolt. Know what size it is by chance?
Hilarious
30 or 32mm not really sure. i took a trailer hitch ball and tightened the nut on the bottom of it and used that to screw mine out.
bbcmudtruck
I used a bolt and welded the nut to it. The head of the bolt measures: 1 1/8" Also I bought an "All Balls" kit off of ebay. It came with both seals also. Ryan
NitroTate
Hey guys another option is available at Home Depot and also at Harbor Frieght. They make this special socket set for plumbing and there is one in there that almost fits, it's a little loose and sloppy but it worked for me and they are really cheap. I bought mine for about $15. at home Depot but then found them at Harbor frieght for like $10.
