BB3
Ok just asking but are the carb's in sync or maybe a throttle cable on top the cap's in a bind or the jam nut's loose? Also i know this sounds stupid but are the slid's in backwards? I know it sounds weird but i have seen it before and act all kinds of crazy. JasonsBanshee
The bike is an 04 and it's all stock parts. So everything is about 4 years old.

I really don't see how you could put them in backwards. I just line up the long groove in the slide with the protruding tab down in the carb. It sounds like a lot of people are leaning towards throttle cable. I hope that's all it is..
BB3
The slide's can go in backwards trust me i seen it...lol Just thought i would ask.
J-Madd
The slide's can go in backwards trust me i seen it...lol Just thought i would ask. Yeah you're 100% correct, but that doesn't affect idle, just runs like crap until WOT.
monster_energy06
i had the exact same problem. but i did more then one thing so im not sure witch of the following worked first i took everything carb related out. carbs , cable, thumb throttle, kept my bike "apart" front fenders and gas tank off. my needles were bent soo that could be one problem. i took my carbs apart top to bottom everything apart. all the jets pilote, main, air jet , float bowls, floats, float valve and seat, choke, mixture screw,needle/main nozzle...etc . i cleanded everything and scrubed the slide and slide way with a nylon scrub pad.. i rinced everything in boiling hot water, good trick if yur in a house. the water just evaporates.. i rebuild both my carbs with kits everything was included: needles, jets, mixture screw, float vales and seats, gaskets. put everything back together ajusted my floats to 20-21mm i made sure my cable wasnt snaging under my tank so i lightly zip-tied it in the middle of the tank to the middle frame tub, also made sure it wasnt twisted up or kinked. i had a moose thumb throttle and i put back my stocker. i had a feeling it didnt help.. i put on my carbs sync. them, and made sur they matched up to the carb windows at WOT. i put the tank back on and made sure of clearance to the cable. started her up and she asn't sticked again soo far "knock on wood" hope this helps sorry for the long chapter

JasonsBanshee
Well, the throttle cable seemed fine when I had it out. I bought some cable lube and lubed it up real good. The needles are perfectly straight. No cracks in any rubber boots, no air leaks anywhere. So I put it all back together. Fired it up and it still does the exact same thing. All my friends still say throttle cable but my cable slides silky smooth. I'm going to try one just for the heck of it.
bansheeryder_69
It sounds like a problem with your springs try that if the cable doesnt work for ya.
JasonsBanshee
Not the throttle cable. Just put a brand new one in and it's still doing it. Is it common for the springs to go bad? I'll do whatever it takes to fix this stupid thing. I've already dropped close to $50 in trying to fix it. So far I've -replaced throttle cable with a new one -cleaned, cleaned and cleaned the carbs, slides and everthing time and time again -lubed cable and slides -checked to make sure needles were straight and they are perfect -check the intake boots for cracks which there aren't any -made sure slides are in right Why would it only stick with the bike running???? If it was a bad cable, a weak spring, a dirty or backwards slide wouldn't it stick with the bike off? I can see the slides functioning perfect with the bike off but as soon as I fire it up they start sticking. This sucks! I want to ride so bad and all I can do is keep taking this bike apart over and over again.
monster_energy06
its a long shot but take apart yur tumb throttle and lube and clean everything up good in there
dragbanshee
I know it shouldnt matter but why not throw the dynojet needles back in for the hell of it and see if there is any change, and check the return springs its got to be something simple that you tinkered with when you done the mods. Do you have a slight bit of slack in the throttle cable? This sucks I know, something like this seems so minor but tuff to figure out, hope you get it soon. JasonsBanshee
i had this problem and what i did was take a VERY FINE thing of sandpaper and just go over the sides of the slides....did the job 4 me Yea, I did this last night. I found a small burr in the long groove on the side that was sticking and I thought that I'd found the problem but that wasn't it. I'm going to see about using a really fine scotch brite and cleaing down in the carbs. Maybe it's something in there.
bansheesmoke
i had this problem and what i did was take a VERY FINE thing of sandpaper and just go over the sides of the slides....did the job 4 me Maybe you can take off the back fenders and the airbox off or pods. And when its running Have a friend or you if you can, rev your motor and look in the carbs and see if they are sticking. That should tell you if the slides are sticking or if you have another problem. just an idea.....
