OK, I give up

Recommended Posts

I know it shouldnt matter but why not throw the dynojet needles back in for the hell of it and see if there is any change, and check the return springs its got to be something simple that you tinkered with when you done the mods. Do you have a slight bit of slack in the throttle cable? This sucks I know, something like this seems so minor but tuff to figure out, hope you get it soon.

Yea, the Dynojet needles didn't help. I do have a little slack in the throttle cable.

I actually took off the sides of the tors tops where you connect the throttle cable and fired it up just to make sure it wasn't the new throttle cable pinched or something. When it sticks the throttle cable slacks up so it's definetly down in the carbs somewhere.

Does this sound like a lean problem possibly? 320 mains, 27.5 air screws turned 1.5 out from in. I really don't think it is but at this point I really don't know what the problem is.

okay this might sound a little off but its worth a try. With your slides in how much can you wiggle them, because if there is to much clearence from the slide to the slide cylinder it may cause it to catch only when running because of the air preasure pushing them against the slide cylinder. I have never seen this happen but its a possibility.

if thats the case then maybe some stiffer springs? or new carbs?

good luck man, hope you fix it

Tell ya what if you dont get it fixed today Ill send you a pair of my old carbs they worked fine, just one of the ears on/or under the cap is broke off no big deal you can prolly replace with yours I think, just give me your addy and pay for shipping when ever you can. I checked your first post your prolly rich if anything but didnt see altitude. Oh yea they still have the tors attached with cable, so one way or another it should take car of it.

Thanks so much for the offer man! I PM'd you!

UPDATE!!

I just may have got it!!! I took a buddy of mines advice and cleaned all the lube off the slides (they slide in and out a lot better with them dry) and while I was at it I cleaned everything else really good with carb cleaner and scotchbrite for like the 4th time. I also noticed the throttle cables that connect to the slides were slightly bent. These are the short 3 or 4 inch cables that connect the slides to the TORS tops. I straightened those out the best I could and put it all back together and it seems to be running great. I've tested it 3 or 4 times and even hooked the TORS back up (wouldn't run with it hooked up before because it was doing it's job and killing it with the slides sticking) and it runs great. I'm going to get it out tomorrow and see if I've got lucky for once and got it going.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!

I've yet to get her out and really ride her. It's still doing good here at my house. I've fired it up and rode it around here and it's still doing good. I'm going for a big ride Wednesday so I'll have an update then.
