ThrowinRoost89
im guessing it was jetted for em but i dunno for shure. allright, the air screw was a lil less than 1/2 turn out so i did 1.5 turns out and and it now has a lil bog off idle, and the top end cleaned up a lil bit but it still sounds like its stuttering but it is now pulling harder than it was the plugs are now turning a dark brown. Did you clean out both jets on each carb?just checkin..If so you will prolly need to get bigger mains..let us know...
ThrowinRoost89
i adjusted the screws out another quarter turn. its not boggin down low now, and it runs through 1-3 good, once i get into the top of 4th its not pullin and is sputterin really think i need bigger? im not shure if its got motorwork or not. on a side note, when i start it up it idles nice and low. when i rev it, the idle rmps hang up a lil high. how do i fix it? ThrowinRoost89
i been doing some things i checked the reeds, they are all good the plugs in nice and tan at idle, and half throttle. but the plug is dark brown/black a WFO whats a good # to drop the main by at a time? 5? 10? If its sputtering out then your not getting enough fuel, you add numbers for bigger jetting.Depending on how accesable jets are I would go 10 first then 5 if you need to still do it..General rule is to always start high then work your way back down...but if your close then just add 10 and see what happens. It would really help to know if there was any motor work done also..You should do a compression check to make sure you that your running the proper octane for the build... jbooker82
What needles are in the carbs? What size pilot jet. When you have the air screw 1 turn or less you need a size smaller pilot. More than 2 turns out you need a leaner pilto jet. With those pipes and no porting you should be at a 155 and I would concider that rich. Probably going to end up around 150-152 josh
ThrowinRoost89
well the plug is brown/black after a WO run, so its rich. i dont get how you think its lean couldnt the motor also sputter if its too rich? i mean sputtering as losing its power and just doesnt wanna pull. ill go check the needle # and pilot. the cylinders have no portwork weisco pistons and dual stage reeds(not shure if they are stock or not, stock cage tho) k&n clamp on's pj carbs. the carbs say 67R which from what ive read means they are 34mm. but i took some calipers and they were 34.92mm.... compression is 120-130 im runnin a mix of some extra fuel i had- 100 octane 32:1 Edited June 2, 2008 by ThrowinRoost89
ThrowinRoost89
needle is cgl pilot is a 58 and im guessing the carbs are 34mm, the bore tapers a lil bit and the the closer i get to the slide, it gets closer to 34mm. the air screw is 1.75 turns out on the one, and 1.6 turns out on the other.
