It is a give and take thing. You could have accomplished the same thing by just changing the rear to a 44 or 45 tooth. Going down in the front gives you low end and opposite on the rear. You have to find a gearing chart to see what I am saying but a one tooth move in the front is equivalent to a 3 or 4 tooth move in the rear.
