700 raptor

Recommended Posts

I'm considering buying one later on.It's down to it or some type of 450.I think the 700 would be a good choice.I want something that I can do a few bolt-on's and just get out and have fun on trails, racing friends,etc...I don't want something slow yet don't expect to be the fastest either.I just want a nice strong quad.

I've rode several different 450's but never the 700.Years ago I had an '01 660 raptor.I've heard though that the 700 is definitely at least a step up compared to the 660.I like the thought of the fuel injection as well.

Anyone had much experience with them?Pro's and con's?

Do mods really wake them up?

I bought a 700 for my wife to ride and I like them if you are taller( i'm 6'1") you'll like the raptor better I think it is the most comfortable quad I have ridden besides my bashee I have ridden most of the 450's my only complaint is it feels very narrow.

I'm 5'6".

I'm wanting a quad that can hang with alot of the milder 450's,etc...I'm also wanting a torquey motor.

One that doesn't have to be revving to the moon all the time yet have plenty of power when I need it.

That sounds to me like the 700 would be a good choice.

The 660 I had badly needed a longer swingarm. It would wheelie in a heartbeat.

Are the 700's that bad at wheelieing as well?

Anyone know of what problems are common with the 700?

Well the 700 is definantly torquey, they wheelie pretty easy, you have to ride in an aggresive posture to really thrash it. You don't have to rev them out , they are strong right off idle, and are fast as hell bone stock. As for hanging with the 450s, the raptor has a different stance and feel, for strait line stuff, you would hang maybe win, but in the trails of any tight stuff you could hang but you'd be RIDING the 700 to hang. They feel a little tall in comparison to my "shee and I personally don't like the narrow feel, but for a stock bike, they are pretty F'n badass. Oh , there is comparison to the 660, the 700 flat smokes it in all areas. I'm a diehard 2 stroker, but if I bought my wife a quad that I might ride every one in a while, it would be a 700. Plus it's a yamaha!!! They don't really have any problems, you may want to put a +2 swinger on it if you don't like wheelies. Some +2s on the front help tame it as well.

yea the 700 craptors are nice bikes for sure

friends with +2's and revalved 450 shocks handles great, just like the banshees they are a little tippy stock , but they are a great ride and got a shitload of torque, id take one for the trails any day, also taller bars are a must! his stock ones were very low if i remember right

If you get an '08 Raptor they have the upgraded piggyback front shocks. I have the same shocks on my '07 GYTR, and they work awesome. As far as torque, the Raptor has plenty of it.... you can even be pulling a gear high through the trails on it and punch the throttle and get the front-end up over an obstacle!

One of the nicest things I also like about mine is the fuel injection.... no messing with a choke, just bump the starter and it fires right up and idles perfectly.

Trail riding is why I got mine, and it fills the bill nicely. I think you'll really like a Raptor for the types of riding that your describing.

Get the raptor, then do the rocket factory 804cc

As with anything,I can't leave anything stock.I have already been looking at their kit with the barker pipes, intake, and PC111.

I'm not an extreme wood trails kind of rider.

I like the sand.Racing is what I enjoy the best but at the same time if my buddies want to take off for a ride then I want to keep it to where it can be trail friendly and not just a drag bike.

That's why I'll probably do several mods to lighten it up later on yet still have the torquey motor for just riding around.Try to have the best of both worlds.By no means the fastest but plenty to have fun with.

i have pc3, intake and barkers on mine and it does really well on the sand.

The barkers definately have a good thump to them and imo they sound

better than the single pipes.

If you are looking for used, be cautious on the '06 models. I think the only

problem they had was an issue with the fuel pump. you can check out

raptorforums.com plenty of into there.
