i need some help with this puzzle

hey everyone okay so i was riding today and all of a sudden i lost my shifter springyness so i took my shee back home and took off my clutch cover and a few things fell out 1st pieces of my water pump gear 2nd 1 small nut 3rd a washer and 4th a threaded pin ,,i found that the pin goes between the shifter spring and the small nut threads on that same pin so here is my question............ does the nut infact thread on the thrreaded pin and also the nut will hit another dowl pin looking thing i pushed on the dowl pin thing and it pushes in i let go and in pops back out at me is that nut supposed to hold it pushed in?

what does the pin do? did it hurt anything with that pin out ? thanks .....id take pics but i dont have a cam right now so if someone has a pic of a engine with the clutch basket off ill edit it and point out what im talking about ...thanks for any help ....

 

 

 

also i now am in need of a water pump gear, a idler gear, washer, circlip, and a clutch basket

I had this happen to my 98'. What you gotta look at is the stud that fell out. Make sure it did'nt break off. This is what happend to mine. The little piece that broke off the stud vibrated into the transmission and broke a tooth of 6th gear. I would recommend getting a new stud just to be on the safe side. To answer your question, yes the nut does go on the threaded pin, thats what locks it down. Good luck you should'nt have to much trouble getting it going again.
