well guys i finially sent my cylinders out to kevin yesterday. i talked to him a few times on the phone before i sent them out and he seemed like a really good guy answered all my questions without hesitation and after all the good stuff i've heard about him i think i made the right choice. well hes gonna do a dune port to compliment the t6's i have i know every one says to run the t5's but i wanted try something different plus it'll give it kinda a sleeper look :evil: . any ways if i want something more aggressive later on i'll just rob the cylinders off of my wifes '06 and have 'em ported for a 4 mill and give her these... well i will keep you guys posted when the build gets finished to tell you how shee runs ported for t6's.

those are the types of replies i was wanting to see. the main reason i wanted to see what it would do ported with the t6's was beacause of what your replies were dajogejr when every one else was replying to posts saying that people have to ditch t6's and go to t5's once ported you were saying just go for it and see what happens so i did... thanks for everyone's help here on the hq. :thumbsup:

You're in a win win situation.

T6 pipes hold their value pretty well, as do T5s. They're probably the best selling pipes of all time...in fact, I think the T5s are.

 

The bike ported is gonna rip. T6 are a damn fine pipe. If you were going to go drag porting, etc., then I would say skip Toomey all together and get CPIs or Shearers...but, you're going with a dune port.

 

I'm sure that motor will run just fine, he does nice work.

 

You'll find most people that say get rid of the T6s and get T5s have had only one, maybe two sets of pipes in their entire life, still running the same motor config, and have never tried T6 back to back with T5s on their given motor...

 

What it all stems from is this. On Toomey's website (who was bought out, forgot by who) it says T5s are for ported motors, T6s are for stock motors.

 

Well...Toomey doesn't do porting. Or if he did, it was a LONG time ago... So...that being said, how many different sets of cylinders do you think he tested that out with? Zero.

 

He probably took a set of stockers and put T5 and T6 pipes on it back to back and dyno'd it. T6 won.

 

Some guy might have ground up a set of cylinders and gave them to Stuart Toomey to try...they made more power with T5s...so he put that disclaimer on the site.

 

There are dozens if not hundreds of builders out there. Who's to say the ported cylinders he tried T6s on was worth a shit in the first place.

 

Go for it...you have very good alternatives if they don't work out. My money says you'll be fine.

not to rob your thread lol but i am doing the same port job your doing only with the dmc aliens? just wondering how they'll run and about some things i seen on his web site.... are the aux. worm holes worth the $$ or the piston lightening? and how would that hold up for durability.

Only good on aggressive dune or drag ports. For people that are serious about getting all they can from the motor. For racing type applications.

my buddy has a aggressive done port with the worm holes and the pistons cut also.he is running cpi inframes and it plan out rips.my motor i ran last yr also has both done to it as well but it was a drag port with shearer out a frames.it was a running too.kev is a great guy and you will like his work

the T6 is a decent pipe ,it will rev within 500 rpms of the T5 on peak output .. alot of people wil l tell

yo u to flat out avoid a port job becuase the toomey t6 were designed for stock specs and it wont work ...most of this is hogwash based on toomey racing website articles ... as long as the builder knows what he is doing ,keeps the port fairly conservative and knows how to match the port layout up to the pipe ..then itll make a good allaround setup... not the highest rpms or best dune pipe but they can make a strong midrange play motor especially o n a 4mill with 170-180 pounds of compression and some timing thrown at it . :cool:

I have an aggressive trail pot by Kevin and Im running DMC 916 system. It isnt just fast anymore. Now its quick. Third gear smokes the tires on the road while moving. I let a couple guys ride it that had many mods to there Shee as well. In the end they all came back with their legs shaking and saying "NOW THATS WHATS UP!!" So Kevin you can expect some new customers. Ellison and I are whoring you out over here all over the tri state area.

I just got my jugs back from kevin today. I have a strong mid port job, new noss head and 21 cc domes, adjustable timing plate, and bored 64.5. I'm running, right now, paul turner mids with pyramid reeds and K&n filter....i'm excited to see how it turns out :D
