I've had it

Recommended Posts

I have a cascade intake looks like the trinity one, 35mm Keihin PWK airstyker. Cylinders have a recreational port on them FMF Fatty's

21cc domes with coolhead +4 timing, It runs great on top and in the middle but at idle smokes like a chimney and plugs are black and wet they clean up after running wide open to a nice tan color. Iv'e tried everything I know. Went from 45 pilot to 35 no change, Changed needles from DEK to EEJ, nothing. Float set at 11mm nothing there. Idles ok with the idle stop screw turned in nearly all the way. Carb cleaned twice. Any thing else anyone can suggest or I'm going to toss it.

Airscrew at 1.5 turns out with a 45 pilot. There is no diffrence in the plugs from a 35 pilot to a 45 pilot. Plugs are wet and black. Revs up awesome and the power comes on nice and smooth from about half to full throttle. I got new float and choke plunger. Is there any internal problems that can cause this. It is like there is a problem in the idle circuit alone.

The only other thing I can think of is that my cylinders have the worm holes or boost ports cut into them that lead straight to the transfers. Does this have anything to do with the CV set up as this is always open and flowing. It is the only diffrence in my set up and a stock one.

After further review I found out they are called boyesen ports towards the bottom of the intake into the crankcase.

Are your reed petals worn out?

I dont run a 2 into 1 carb anymore. My bike with the 28mm carbs makes way more power mid-top. The difference on the low end is only about .6hp for 1400 rpm. Which you shouldn't even be able to notice.

If you ever figure this out let me know. xXblessedwithdeathXx has the same problem for over a year now we tried all the same stuff. I think he tried every pilot jet they make. He has the same exact problem someone out there has to have an answer. 2 into 1 = headache. stock carbs are better.
