new to the seen guys so try and bear with me. i got a banshee a month ago and have rode it twice i have had two big problemes each time first was the clutch the little ball welded it self to the plate needed all new plates and others it was a 450 fix and that was with a deal i guess too. second was the temp gauge hose fell of leaked all the water(i dindnt install) head gasket rings all that so while he is in there he is going to port jet it and all that thats 800. i like to ride the trails that are close here in Wa. but have heard they are not good for trails every 3-5 rides i will be back in shop my mechanic says no but there is this other guy who insists it. pretty good on cars have done complete rebuilds just dont have time and space should i take time to work on it myself from now on. i also wiegh 315 6'4 and he says i am to big but i love that thing any help will be appreciatted thanks

if your mechanic is telling you your gona have your banshee in his shop every 3-5 rides, id find a new mechanic, fast..

thats a load of bullshit

like anything they require routine maintenance and upkeep, and as long as you treat them right and keep an eye on things, they are just as reliable, if not more reliable, than any of these new 4 strokes out there

To answer your other question though... yes you can work on them yourself and save a lot of money. The really are pretty easy once you've done it once or twice and the amount of help you can get from all these guys is almost unlimited.

I'm actually creating a DIY video guide on it from my recent ground up rebuild that people will be able to get once I finish editing it.

I weigh 10lbs less than you so here a good TIP. Bust you mechanic in the ribs break em and tell him to blow himself AND LIKE IT! Basic matenince and going over everything will solve these problems. Youll be needing new suspension too. Trust me from one big dude to another even if your only hardcore trail riding Yamaha sets their suspension for 120lb people. Oh and 800 for a woods port and a rejet LOL. NO! I can hook you up if you want to send your motor out with a woods porting genious and Im sure a few other builders on this boaard can help you.

When I had my first Banshee I used to take it to get worked on when it needed it, but when I got this one I decided to do it myself and saved a lot of money and time that they would have it. With the guys on this site to answer your questions, you can do anything that needs to be done to it.
