markyb31
I picked up this banshee about a year ago for $500 bucks. It runs great (Aside from the fact I have the top end apart for boring and porting). It has aftermarket a arms (I think lonestar but they do not say anything on them) and a set of works dual rates with remote res. My question is, are these ball joints turned out too far. I was told that as long as there is as much thread in the a arm as the ball joint is wide (threaded part) I am ok. I have been looking at other shees on the site and do not see any that look like this. The wheels are almost straight up and down maybe even turned in a little so I realy can not turn them in anymore and the bottoms are all the way in. Whats up? http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii176/m...20080331_06.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii176/m...20080331_05.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii176/m...20080331_04.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii176/m...20080331_03.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii176/m...20080331_02.jpg

markyb31
how much thread is inside of the arm. if a decent amt your fine by looking at the pic it looks ok.but hard to tell. There is about 1" inside. They are 3/4" ball joints I think, so there is more inside than the width. Why would this be like this?

jayzx10r
You have Lonestar arms. $682.50 from Lonestar. You didn't sent a photo shot from the front so I can't see how the wheels line up, but your suspension is fully adjustable for caster, camber, and toe in. I set mine up with the least amount of protruding ball joint by dividing the required distance between the ball joints and the heim joints. It is kind of a bitch, but if you set up your front end correctly, you can get rid of that excessive extended joint thread. That is the weak point of your front end. You need an angle finder: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/disp...temnumber=34214 And these instructions: http://www.lsracing.com/img/Guide_21.pdf Mine were originally set up like yours, now they are a lot closer to the arm than they were..... racer
As a general threaded fastener rule, keep at least the major diameters amount of thread engaged. So if it's a half inch bolt, keep a half inch in the material. Adapt to fit your particular case.
Michael Jackson
im sure you guys are right with your formulas and stuff but that just doesnt look kosher.. i would never run my balljoints threaded all the way out like that.

KaosBanshee44
If i were you i would just adjust the whole front end, i'm with everybody else it just don't look right and i wouldn't chance it. I'd clean up all that rust as well. Good luck with it no matter what you got a deal only paying 500 bucks. I lose those kinda deals.
