California Reg Fees

Recommended Posts

Here is what I posted back in October about this BS.....I just got my first $50.00 bill last week.

In Cali, we had to pay $25.00 every 2 years to get a registration sticker that is good for 2 years. The "fee" (remember, this is NOT a tax) was supposed to generate monies to procure additional riding areas and maintain riding areas. I don't think a new riding area has been acquired since the 80s.

Instead, these funds have been used to fund the enviro hippie assholes to fund CLOSING of riding areas and pay for habitat studies to clear the path for future closures.

Last year, we paid in $18,000,000 (18 Million dollars) and of that, $365,000 went to maintain off road areas. The rest was diverted to the Hippies, Law Enforcement, and the General Fund.

Why am I pissed?? Look at the previous paragraph.

They are going to increase the fee 100% next year (this is now...this has happened). It's not that I can't afford the "fee," I just want the money to be used for the people that are paying for it. F*cking Bull$hit.

Boat fees are also going up 100%, smog checks are going up $8.00, and on road vehicle registration will increase 10%.

NICE....

And they say that illegal aliens don't negatively impact our society..... :shoothead:

After someone responded by saying it wasn't too bad, (my peeve is the whole taxation without representation thing) I responded with:

It's not the fee I find ridiculous...it's that they take money from the off road fees collected and give it to the enemy...the one's that want to close our riding areas.

They use this money to fund "environmental studies" that always ultimately end up excluding our ability to ride those areas!!

Since they are doubling our fees, that means we will pay 36 million dollars next year. They will get 25% of that...9 million dollars to fight us with!!! They don't contribute, they only take. ALL the fees were supposed to be used to purchase property for us to ride on now and in the future. Another lie.

It is like a rigged fight :banghead: where we are paying someone to kick our ass.

Im with ya jay. I remember when they closed pismo down. They used our fucking money to build the fence. Got kicked in the nuts twice and payed the envirofags to do it.

Man you guys got a hard way to go, that's pretty messed up! Where I'm from we just have a one time deal on the sticker. I understand what your saying about not minding the fees every year or two if it was helping the sport, but it's just ridiculous that it's hurting it. That's adding insult to injury.

I know non resident California stickers did not go up I just bought some still 20 dollars apiece. Thats typical california screw the guy that lives there with higher fees but the guy that comes and visits gets off cheaper. When I buy a non resident one no ranger or dealer has ever questioned me weather I was a resident or not and I have been here for almost 4 years now plus there is no red sticker green sticker just one sticker for any year bike any time of the year any where.

They sell them at the dealers not all of them have them though. I think there is a state website that says the dealers that sell them at. I buy mine from the honda dealer in lompoc cali so I know they have them. I have never been asked for identification at that dealer but I have never bought from a diff one so I don't know what is actually required. When you buy the sticker it requires no paper work at all you just give them 20 dollars and they give you a sticker. When I bought one the first year I lived here I thought they would at least want your VIN number and a name and address but nope you dont need anything. I am a non resident though so if they ever questioned me I have proof that I am a non resident but like I said I have never been questioned and I have been checked at many places all around cali for the last 4 years.

We pay a 1 time 4 dollar registration fee ( not street legal ) and that includes the ORV plate. The nice thing about that is when we go to Glamis ( or anywhere in Cali for that matter ) we don't have to have a "green sticker" as the bikes are registered but in another state and have plates on them. Az just went to a "blanket" fee for watercrafts though. It is done by length regardless of the year made. I have a 91 VXR Pro and an 01 XLT 1200 and each 1 is 20 bucks a year.
