Wildcardracing
I think they only offer the Sand Haulers in an 8" rim, I've looked at them in person and think they would be a pretty good tire. Not quite as light as a hauler, but a real good budget performer.
gregrob
They suck. My friend likes them on his YFZ, and they do ok traction wise but theyre just a really crappy tire and good luck getting them seated on the bead. I blew 2 of them up trying to seat them and finally just threw them away.

jayzx10r
Hey there rtcc, Last year I was a sand Noob but I do have experience with both "V" paddles and Skat-Trak Hauler straight paddles since I use both. All my experience is from the SoCal dunes of Glamis, Gordon's, and Buttercup so I'm used to loomy, dry sand and hills that are as vertical as sand can support itself. I don't know what the sand consistency or what obstacles you will encounter, but here is my observation: My "V"s are Stak-TrakIIs 21"x12"x10" and my Haulers are 21"x12"x8" 8 paddle tires...all on Douglas blue wheels. You need to qualify yourself for the tire you want. If you are gonna do mostly duning, the "V" paddles rule...hands down. I get 5 times the enjoyment powersliding on my SKIIs than I get trying to dune on my Haulers. The Haulers don't slide as predictably as the SKIIs, they kinda coil up and slingshot you mid corner, so you have to go at a less intense pace. When you dune or recreational ride, it is better to be able to slide predictably. You can still race on the V paddles and you lose a bike length off the line, but BFD. You are there for fun!! The tradeoff for duning is worth it if you only drag for fun. On V's, you can come in in 3rd gear, pitch it sideways, slide under power and end up doing a donut. Do that on Haulers, you (probably) eat it. Good for a photo op. If you are dragger, the straight paddles are the ones for you. Get the 8" wheel for best launch. They hook up and get taller the faster you go, like a dragster. I find I don't need to grab my last gear because the tires grow and change my final drive ratio!! I bolt these on at night when I'm heading out to drag race at night up Old's in Glamis...and the ride to the hill is never as much fun as it is on my SKII's. But at the hill strictly racing, they are great. If I were to buy only 1 set of sand tires and I was a 50/50 duner/dragger, I'd own "V" paddles on 10" wheels. I can only do a dozen passes up the hill before I have fuel concerns, but I can spend hours duning...so it is like 6 minutes compared to 100 minutes. The 100 minutes prevails. If you are gonna dune more, the answer is clear. Powersliding Rules!! I don't know what V tires people recommend...I'd post a poll or do a search on that topic. I like my SKIIs. On the "it sucks" meter, Haulers suck more for general duning than the V paddles suck for dragging. V paddles win!! Hope my POV helps you. Jay From SanD. gregrob
I've never had trouble duning straight paddles. Especially with mohawk fronts they turn pretty good. V's do slide and corner better, but straight paddles can still be plenty of fun!

Thanks man that is the kind of input I needed! Even though I am still completely torn. I really just want to have as much fun as I can out there, I am used to trail riding and just hauling ass as fast as I can where ever I am. I really dont see me drag racing at all. With my mods I will get smoked by most anything. I guess I could use the V's as an excuse. LOL I guess the most liked V's are the ITP's and the Skat traks. I hear nothing but bad about cheaper brand V paddles. I still have some time so I will keep researching it, but I appreciate the input!! jayzx10r
I meant to say I have Sand Skate IIs.... As for being on the fence, maybe the best way to explain the difference is the Haulers dig in to the sand because of their donut shape, so while you can slide a bit under power, it isn't predictable. It is hard to slide with the tire dug 4" into the sand. The V tires are flatter, so they "float" on the sand. They slide under control and you end up giggling like a school girl...at least no one can hear you!! A good way to get in touch with your feminine side!! J/K. The haulers are a bit faster, but the V's are more fun. Fun is why I go to the des. Last weekend at Olds, I raced every quad (that would) that wasn't on alky and won every race...maybe 30 quads...including a 500 Quadzilla. Many of them were on Haulers. Just start out in 2nd!! I was on V tires. Go figure. Of course, my experience is my own. Others may have a different opinion. I have a new set of Haulers I recently purchased that I like too, but I use me V's 90% of the time. Face
I had a set of Vs when I bought my bike. They are great for playing around, donuts, and turning. If you want to hook up better get the Haulers. I just got them and I love them I feel alot more power just from them hooking up better. much better for the hill climbs. Also I only dune, very little trail and I have a 13tooth on the front as well. YOu will be fine.
lincster
Once you do the dunes, you won't want to run anything else.....
