Pipe coating options

Recommended Posts

Ok I know you can get em chromed,

high temp paint

anyone had their pipes ceramic coated?

I have had headers ceramic coated and bought them that way but never seen Banshee pipes (any pipes 2 stroke or otherwise)

available with it done.

It would hold more heat in the exhaust.... possibly worth a little more power?????

Want to get my shearers coated.(virgin, never run yet)... in socal. any ideas?

You're absolutely correct. Many riders have their pipes coated & besides the forums always see it at the shops. Had a long talk with a reputable shop who serviced my Shee cylinders. He had his dirtbike header coated as well. I did a home made black ceramic outside my T5's & hold to heat very well. No bubbles.. No flakes!

I had my T5's ceramic coated by Jet hot coatings and they came out absolutely great. The pipes went there with a TON of rust and for $200 they came back looking better than new. Great well known ceramics leader. I have pics

But im not sure how to post them on here.

I had my raptors header done on my stainless steel sparks 6x. The head pipe did dull up by the front two primary tubes. It happend when it was bran new coated and I put it on my 720 stroker build for the first time firing up. The pilot circuit was lean and the header glowed with in 30 seonds of running. That is what faded it. A 2 stroke exhaust should look fine since there pipes dont really get as hot as a 4 stroke header.

Copper would be a head turner if it matched the color scheme.

I had the sterling color done.

Thanks for posting the pics guys. They say they can turn them around in as little as 5 days if you pay a little extra for shipping. Mine were gone for two weeks which is supposedly the average. I haven't put my banshee back together but my brother runs jet hotted headers on his 70 cuda dragger and no blueing or discoloration.

I have the shiney Jet Hot coating on some T-5's. So far so good, no discoloration and fairly durable. Have not noticed any difference as far as horsepower. If there is any difference my "Butt-O-Meter is not detecting it... In fact. I get a more noticable performance increase from a bean and cheese burrito in the morning

I am thinking of having my FMF Fatty's ceramic coated... But would the pipe holding additional heat from the coating "STEAL" horsepower in theory? Headers and exhausts are designed to dissapate the heat, and many racers ever use the header heat tape to keep heat down? The coatings look great though...
