zach45
I dont think you can go wrong with a new chevy, ford or dodge. Dodge does have a new lifetime warranty that is pretty nice tho. I just went thru the whole truck buying thing and drove quite a few trucks. I ended up getting a new Ram with the 5.7. So far it averages 15-16mpg in city and around 18-19 on the highway. I really like it so far. I really liked the chevys also, I just had a hard time finding a regular cab with the bigger V8. Just make sure and drive everything and get what you like the most. you were looking for the 6.0? that motor puts out serious power... 01Banshee350
you were looking for the 6.0?that motor puts out serious power... I was lookin for just a regular cab with the 5.3. All I could find around here had the V6 or the 4.8, Im sure if i woulda looked more I coulda found one eventually but I needed a truck quick so I just went with the dodge. dawarriorman
All I know is the rest of the world uses toyota. 3rd world countries survive on them. They visit the shop less on average than Ford/Chevy/Dodge. My 93 toyota just hit 200k. Its been in 2 wrecks. Never once has it broken down. Never once (besides the body shop) did it ever have to be repaired. Change oil, air filter, spark plugs, timing belt ... do basic maintenance, and it will run forever. I have yet to meet anyone with ANY american truck that made it to 200k without having to put the vehicle in the shop at least once. Just look at the recall histories of Ford/Chevy/Dodge. Im not saying that Toyota doesnt make a good truck, but have you ever pulled a 20,000 lb goose neck trailer? tends to work the truck a little more than a daily driver would. So if i have things go out on my truck its normaly my falt and its just being used as a truck.
Michael Jackson
its all personal preference, anyone can tell you a bad story about one of the big 3, or about one of their friends trucks and what went wrong with it.. i can sit here and talk about the 3 chevy 1500's friends of mine have owned and how all have all had tranny and/or rear end problems way before 100k miles, but that doesnt make them ALL junk, i have an f150 that has 90k+miles on it and never had a problem.. that doesnt make ford better though, buy what YOU want, your the one whos gotta sit in it and drive it every day, no car company is perfect, but if your lookin for the one closest, go for ford! hahah

All i know is you dont know what your talking about. I worked in a auto shop for a few years and you come to realize every auto manufacturer makes pretty good cars these days and one is not really more reliable than the other, its all about how you take care of the vehicle. Import owners love to spout off how domestics are POS's but they really have no clue. We had a lot of fleet vehicles come in everyday which were all american, lets just say that 200k miles would be a very low mileage one and they all had the original drivetrains in them. We had diesels in all the time with way over 300k on them. Drive your import truck and have fun but dont come in here calling american trucks junk. 01Banshee350
Nowadays almost all domestics are as good as imports, believe it or not. Chrysler has been known not to have the greatest auto trannys. Name all the imports you want but it doesnt prove much, im not even going to start listing the domestics I know of that are over 200k miles

.
was thinking about it, why dont you opt for the 8 ft bed. You could put a box in the back for your tie downs, riding gear, tools and stuff, and you'd be able to lock it when you go riding so noone could mess with it, and still fit the banshee in easily

My "American Made" Ford Ranger just rolled over 202k the other day. I will say that it has been in the shop once, OEM timing belt went at 180k. It is a non-interference engine so I wasnt going to change it until it broke. Still rolling on the stock clutch too. I don't baby this truck either, i had it at the drag strip with 179k on it last summer. It sees rev-limiter about once a week. I have beat on my ranger since the day i have got it and it keeps running strong.

My bro just bought a new tundra with the bigger engine and that thing screams. Me, I just went for the best deal and ended up with a 7.3 ford powerstroke.
