new pickup trucks..

when driven right, it's very possible. When driven on the interstate at 75-80mph or in traffic, no way. Don't be so quick to throw doubt on me when you don't even know or probably even own one.

True. My current dodge with a 360 gets on average 13 city 15 highway, but it has gotten 22 before. 45-55mph for 440 miles. I couldn't believe it and thought my gauge was broke until I filled back up.

i thought we were talkin about gas engines here....?

theres no way an old 5.3 is gettin over 20 mpg... when the new ones can only muster that while runnign on 4 cylinder mode ..

I had a 2005 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 V8 and 3.42 gear ratio in the rear end. Stock wheels and tires. Best i ever got was 21 on the hiway doing 75 mph. that was over a full tank of fuel too. That was also a near uninterrupted run down the interstate. up to 75, cruise set, didnt get off the hiway until i needed gas! And I-25 is not a flat road by any means, so i wasnt going down hill either.

my 2500 w/ the 6.0 and 4.10 gears is lucky to see 15mpg hiway and 13 city.

I agree and disagree with the straight axle comments. Yes they are strong, alot cheaper to lift and overall a more simple design. However, I have had 5 different people in my truck that own lifted Furds and Dodges that thought my truck rode like a Cadi vs. their bricks. Everybody is going to have an opinion, but neither of the 3 build their own engines. But, Banks now owns the world record with a Dmax and I won't give mine up for nothing. You get a pretty good feeling taking a lifted 7000+ lb truck and smoking ricers, stangs etc. Plus the I have the new Ally 6 spd. with the manual option, pretty dang cool shifting with a switch when in manual. Like I said, get what you like, what you can afford and what fits your needs. If you like it, fuck everybody else. They are probably just jealous LOL.

I have an '05 Ford F150, but I have also owned a '99 Lightning and a few Chevy pickups, and a Dodge. By far I have had the best results with my '05 Ford. I think because the technology is better that the product is better. Research is the most important I think.

Right now is a great time to shop a new one. My next truck will be a diesel no doubt. Not sure what brand it will be.

I am going to have to say get a GM truck. My GMC with a 5.3 has had a supercharger it's whole life with extra shit added here and there it now has 153,000 miles with the orginal drivetrain. I am pushing about 450 hoes to the wheels, it will do a one tire fire for days and still gets better mileage then any of my boy's trucks. Take the GM truck down a dirt road and then take any of the other trucks they drive better thats alll there is to it. There is nothing wrong with IFS unless you want 40's under it.

I dont think you can go wrong with a new chevy, ford or dodge. Dodge does have a new lifetime warranty that is pretty nice tho. I just went thru the whole truck buying thing and drove quite a few trucks. I ended up getting a new Ram with the 5.7. So far it averages 15-16mpg in city and around 18-19 on the highway. I really like it so far. I really liked the chevys also, I just had a hard time finding a regular cab with the bigger V8. Just make sure and drive everything and get what you like the most.

Ya it blows the door off dodge,

Yea ok

I'm not up to date on gas engines for the big 3, so all I can say is if you go Diesel..get Cummins. If you like the interior/body of the Fords, then put a Cummins into the Ford Chassis.

With Winter Blend Fuel, simple little box and 5" straight I'm getting 23MPG highway. Put some Bosch 275 Injectors in there, gain 1-2mpg and then once summer comes back around I could see a little increase in MPG again. Either way I'm happy with 23MPG, and if I can get higher, than hell yea

And I would have to agree with Loco...Dodge
