Twistedtrik
I am a Chevy guy 100% ( own 3 lifted trucks ). Every vehicle will have it's bugs, that's a given. Just do some research and see what fits your needs and budget. I have nothing but good things to say about GM trucks.

Twistedtrik
Hell I get 14-15 in town in my big ass diesel. My wife drives an 01 1500 4x4 on 35's and she get's 16-17 in town. Her truck has 4.56 gears and Flowmaster exhaust, other than that it's stock.
IrideA250R
I average 15mph in the winter, and 17-19mpg in the summer with my '03 Chevy Silverado LT with the 5.3L, 4WD, and 3.73 rear end. Out on the 2 lane highway at 62-65 mph it will get 20-22mpg in the summer.

Michael Jackson
your old mans toyota is fuckin NASTY , if i had my choice (and a huge stack of cash) id go for the toyota, most of these japanese cars and trucks are more american than the american brands now..keep that in mind, while big companies like Gm are closing plants and moving over seas for cheap labor, companies like toyota are opening plants in the states i think the guys talkin about 20+mpg in their 4wd chevies are out of their mind.. they know they are... the new ones with the cylinder deactivation are only gettin that much on the highway, how is yours gettin the same, or better, runnin off all 8 ? yea right!!!!!!! and those 5.3 make plenty of power to pull lots of stuff, the 6.0 must chug gas whatever you get, make sure you get the gold trim package so you blend in on the island! shudakeptquiet
Personally, I'd go GM right now, and here's my thinking: First off, I'll tell you I've owned Ford and GM trucks, my last GM a k1500 I bought new in 1994 and JUST got rid of it and wish that I DIDNT. It NEVER fucked up, never. 150K and strong as hell still. My Ford was great too, but I didn't own it nearly as long. My buddy's 1999 v6 F150 never fucks up either. That said, I'd go GM or Ford. BUT the 2009 F150 will be a new body style, so I personally would not buy a 2008. I really like the new silverado/ sierra, it's a nice body style. The Tundra, IMO, is a POS. Youtube the Tundra tests and see for yourself. It's a weak platform. Soft frame. I don't know if you work for a living like I do, but that truck would last a couple months tops on a jobsite, it's just soft. My other buddy owns one and the tailgate warped to shit the first time he rode his quad on it...are you fucking kidding me? Trucks are the one thing America has always, and still does, the best. Buy American. And don't give me the BS about the tundUH being built in America, while that may be true it's still lining the pockets of asian businessmen. Toyota, I will admit, make good reliable econo cars... they should have stopped there. The tundra snaps camshafts and driveshafts, and consumer reports slipped Toyota as a whole due the the tundUH. meanv10
I am a ford fan 100% i own a F350 v10 with a kenne bell supercharger, i bleed blue, the only thing that i have to complain about ford is there shitty gas millage, i owned a 4.6L f150 before my superdyte and they both get about 10 mpgs, thats not very good, that is one thing that Chevy has, they get real good gas millage with there 5.3L and they make ok power to, chevy also OWNS the aftermarket when it comes to engine building, I see 4 whipple supercharges go through ebay a day for there moters and have only seen 2 for my v10 in about 2 years. Fords are indestructible though, at work we have done things to these trucks that would make you cringe in horror because of the shear abuse, so give a ford a thought and in 09 there also dropping the triton series for the hurricane and the 5.4 and 6.8 are being dropped for a 5.8 and 6.2 and ma be a 7plus letter to replace the v10. I had my YFZ450 in the back, too.

Spend a little time researching these trucks, and you will see I for 1 am not out of my mind. It is very common for Duramaxs to get 20+ MPG when setup right. I have 36's but also 4.56 gears ( back to stock ratio now ) + 4" straight pipe with no Cat + the programmer. You want as little proof of mileage spend some time on Dieselplace.com. You can learn alot on the 6.0 also.
