bansheeman1988
bought my girl in rough shape, she had been blown up and the rod was elongated with piston shrapnal all over the cases and head. Picked her up for 1100 bucks and invested about 500 in parts and now look at her, she's as sexy as the day she came off the showroom, well not quite haha but close enough. 2001Stroker
I looked for months, trying to find a decent Banshee. I couldn't find one that didn't need alot of work done to it. So, I posted one of those dreaded "WTB: 2001-2006 Banshee, $3000" Craigslist ads. Well I checked my e-mail about an hour later, and someone had responded to it. It said something like this; I have a 2001 in Va Beach, and I have receipts for over $7,000 worth of parts and work, that was done within the last month. I wrote back; Sorry, I don't want to spend anymore than $3,500. He says, That will work. From what I gathered, his wife was pissed that he spent so much on it, and made him get rid of it. Just to get her back, he sold it to me for $3,500. And get this, he drove about 45 minutes, and delivered it to me, filled up the tank with racing fuel, and gave me a gas tank full of racing fuel, already mixed. Then, he told me to make sure I join BansheeHQ.com. So, here I am. Edited March 9, 2008 by 2001Stroker

rline shee
I came from the 4x4 world. i had a monster ford w/ 44in tires. a rippen cj5 with a screamin 304 and then a couple modded suzuki samurai's. all in that order. I got tired of the hassle that comes along with keeping every thing going. Also all my buddies started to get 4- wheelers. My little brother got a nice warrior, but that would not climb the chat dump at our local riding spot. So he got a raptor 660 from a friend. his friend got a 700 efi raptor and spanked him at every thing. So my bro sold his 660 and found a almost like new 700 raptor for 4500. he kept telling me that i should get the 700 and be done with it. he said i will never be happy with any thing else. Since i have 4 kids 9 and younger and my wife stays at home to raise then, i really didnt have that kind of money. i didnt want him to always keep telling me that i should of gotten the 700, so i started to look for a bike that wasent as much as a small car but that will at least keep up with his bike. so after the tax refund came in i started to look around. i checked out the suzuki ltz400, the 660 raptor and even a old 250r. i always liked the 2 stroke and when i seen a 98 banshee on craigs list in my area i went to the bank and then went to check it out. needless to say i now own a 98 bad ass banshee. it is perfect. it has all the modds that i want and it will even beat my brothers 700 2 out of 3 times. DallasGDub
LONG ASS STORY....But a good story. Some of you already know. I had a Hotrod 1968 Fairlane 500 I had had gotten a great deal on. I put about 6K into it (including the car cost), and it had about 5K more prior to me getting it. A classic car is something I always wanted, but once I got it, it was not as much fun to me as I thought it would be. I think the fun came from my dad. Working on the car all hours of the night. Spending Sat nights at the dirt track trying to get me some lovin under the bleachers as he worked in the pits with all his homies. Car rebuilding was his thing. Well after about 3 years I realized that's something me and my dad always did together. That's were the fun came from. I guess I was just trying to fill a void after he passed away back in 2004. I had a old YZ80 for as long as I could remember. I loved being on the dirt. I had to sell for bills after my son was born. I always wanted a quad, but never had the cash. So here was my chance. SO I PUT IT ON DALLAS CRAIGSLIST...."Fairlane, trade for quad" People came out the wood work. I had no idea the car was that wanted. It took almost 3 weeks to weed out all the pros and cons of all the diff offers. I was sticking with the cash deal. I had even gotten flagged a few times. I guess people that it was fake. It was a car for only 5K that had 10K into it...I was not trying to turn a profit, only get what I put into it....I was going to take the cash and buy a Shee b/c that's what I wanted from the beginning. If you like being able to fix something that you break. A Banshee is just that. Make it to break it. That's half the fun. One day I was CL and the Shee (below) that had been decked out and was up for trade. (Let me know what ya got....) It had a lot of work into the motor and a ton of extra parts. I emailed the guy and after about a week of working out the details, we traded. BOTH of us had so much money into our projects, it was hard justifying getting rid of it. But when it came down to it. We just traded one hobby for another. He had several other 4 wheelers, and a few kids. So a Shee was not really practical to do family stuff on. Me on the other hand, I am a single dad with a 7 year old.....a shee makes me feel like I am just a big ass kid again. I am not some rich dick that bought something he wanted just b/c it was cool. I think the trade was a great move b/c of the hard work that went into the Fairlane, I know I will appreciate my new Shee.
Twistedtrik
Bought my wife a Blaster last summer. Thought it would be a good starting point for her. Well, I forgot she is 6'1 and the Blaster was a bit short for her. So she said well, how about a 400ex. She had ridden 1 last trip to Glamis and liked it. So we started looking for a 400ex. Couldn't find anything she liked and she said, I should just ride the Predator and then you can get that 2 stroke you want. I was sold and drove to Phoenix the next day to pick up my Shee. Guy was asking 3400.00 to start, then dropped to 2900.00 and I offered 2750.00 due to having to make the whole drive and he took it. So I got the Shee and full set ( front and rear ) dune tires and rims for 2750.00. I think I got a good deal.

tnr
A bunch of friends owned shees and were always going to Winchester Bay. One trip I really wanted to go , so I borrowed a friends grizzly 660 and took it out. I had a blast, even on a tank. I rode a couple of the banshees and knew I needed to get one. One of the guys that would go on these trips ended up buying a YFZ450. He was always having trouble with his shee, but when it was running it was strong. He was going to sell the shee in the spring, fixit, and make a little more money on the deal. I told him that I would take it off his hands and that I would fix it. Best thing I could have done. Ended up rebuilding the top end, the bike was on the stock bore. The way the bike sits in the sig is the way I got it. I did the portwork, flywheel lightened, pistons, and reeds. Bought the bike for $2000, put another $570 in it and it runs strong. I am glad I got one that needed some help, otherwise I would have never known this site existed. Thanks for all your help. onall4s
I got it from the Repo Man. I guess payments hadn't been made for a while. She was found stashed in a garage! Then I came along and bought it. First thing i did was buy new wheels and paint the T5's. Here's a pic and the sig shows what shee looks like now a days. The motor has also changed since then  ClimbAnyHill & BHQ Listerine-es, Great thread y'all ! I have the exact same model that I picked up almost exactly the same way. Dude who has catfish farms around here buys the '02 for use when feeding fish, checking oxygen levels, running up and down the turn-rows on his farm. Figures out this is NOT what he needs and goes back to the Yamaha shop and they won't give him a trade. He goes and buys a 4-wd Honda something, fish get some disease, he goes bankrupt in '03. Honda store owner (dickhead) buys Yamaha shop from bigger dickhead. Both quads get repossesed. I am in the Honda $tealership buying some Hondabrite for the Ducati (great polish and cleaner) and they unload both of them. Both DH1 & DH2 are pissed and I see an opportunity to capitalize on being at the right place and right time. Only two days before while I was working on the Multistrada, I had decided I was going to buy another sportquad. So, you know the story. Here I am and I've still got her ! Number 689 has been very, very good to me ! I don't race it any more & I am now changing her over to dune/dessert only as I bought a KFX450r for woods, XC, GNCC. Upgrades are well along the way of improvement in the areas of stopping, shifting, comfort, reliability, & of course POWER. Just got another set of Hipers and am about to mount up sand tires. Changed the chain and sprockets yesterday to Krause Racing. Going to get new throttle and clutch mechanisms next. The rest of the mods I'll just need to re-tweak for the sand. Glad to be here ! ! Will post pictures when available. Ride On, Andy
'04limited
mine was also a repo me i was meeting my wife to take her out to dinner the day before her birthday and i see an '04 limited edition at a small atv dealership. this was september of '06 and i had wanted an 04 limited edition since i first saw them but never had the financial resources. so i stopped to look at it it was really clean looked brand new it still had the factory tires on it so i asked 'em how much they said 3900. so when we were at dinner i had told my wife that i looked at it she asked if i liked it and i said ya it was nice not to much more talk about it well the next day the day of HER birthday she calls my best friend while i was at work to help her go pick it up. needless to say she bought me the banshee on her birthday and gave it to me that night. 3 months later i bought her '06 special edition for her and the sickness was started for both of us.
