I have wanted to take a trip to Glamis for years and never did, now my daughter is riding(8 years old) and she wants to go. Ive spent some time around the Cabazon area in the summer and I know its hotter than hell but is it too hot for a kid and are the holiday weekends too wild? What do they got in the beach store? I dont want to get out there and be the only 2 people in the whole desert either. I want her to have a good time but I'd also like to have some girls around for me!!!

its more then family friendly. i just took my 4 month old out with us for the first time on Pres weekend. the washes and camps are fine, its going to comp or olds when it gets insane and not safe for the little ones.

Just dont park at the first 7 or so washes, go farther down the traqcks and you wont have as many poeple in the camp also you wont have as much dust to worry about.

The store sells pretty much anything you could need or want but keep in mind they dont have the best prices by any means. also if your out around the time our season is Oct - May there are TONS of vendors out there that sell food, shirts, wood, gas, parts you name it.

You would have a great time, Also there are plenty of smaller dunes near all the washes that are perfect for kidos.

Its really not as bad as people make it out to be. Many years ago it was rediculose how bad t was. You had all the mexican gangs shooting at people and digging pits to make people crash so they could steal your crap. now there are so many rangers and sherrifs out there most of the thugs went elsewhere

Yea i agree. We went on the 27th of december through the 6th of jan. After new years everyone clears out with in a couple days, and it was really empty. It was also about 75-80 during the day (maybe hotter too), and this was in the winter. I wouldnt go out there in the summer, its murder. Like Banshe-man said, the dunes that are really close to the washes are really good for younger kids. Nothing too big, maybe 8-10 feet tops with lots of paths and trails.

I went out mid October last year. During the day it was 95 degrees. It was killer. My buds and I just melted under our canopy and only had a couple of rides. One of the nights I had heat exhaustion, had a major headache and threw up big time because I didn't drink enough fluids. What sucked was that I still had to ride my machine back to camp with a throbbing head and nausea.

I really wouldn't suggest going out there when it's hot unless you have a badass trailer with air conditioning and don't mind staying inside and watching movies during the day.

My 10 yr old rides with me out in the washes, those dunes in that area are perfect.

I'll take her to vendor row if she get's board at camp. Take shopping and buy her a funnel cake. They have good stuff out there.

Thanks good the thug crap is outta there, don't need any of that mess out there.

Titties in the face I don't mind, but man... Those Quicksand dvd's are just a gathering of all the stupid glamis people.. Gettting trashed, starting fights, jumping over burning couches is not my cup of tea.

yeah, don't go in the summer. You will be sorry. I took my new toy hauler out there last year in august and it was 116 one of the days according to the lady at the beach store. There were about 5 other camps total. You could only really ride at night and right away in the morning before the sun came all the way up. We drove my buddy's Tacoma around during the day with the AC on full blast, and it was still so hot. Really not any fun at all! only nice thing was that all the sand was pristine.

Glamis looks different in the summer. We went to lizard and China and I hardly recognized the hills!
