BigRed350x
just wondering who uses octane boost. why do you use it and does it really help? My mods are listed below and I was wondering if it would help me beat frogger up the hill! You would have to buy a shitload of that crap to notice any difference. The average junk octane booster will only raise your octane rating 1 to 2 points. Save all the money you are going to waste buying that crap and go get 5gal of real high-octane fuel and mix it 50/50 with your normal gas. The only time you even need to think about running any kind of high-octane fuel is if your compression is above 150-155psi and you have your timing advanced. Do a compression check and see if you even need it. If you are under 155psi you can run 91 or 93 pump gas (whichever you have available in your area) and be just fine. - Jared
Face
Nice thanks for the input. I have seen a lot of people run it at the dunes but I never knew if it was worth the effort. thanks again

jbooker82
10 points = 1 increase in octane number. If you mixed 1 gallon of 110 octane fuel to 4 gallons of 91 octane you would have 94.8 octane fuel If you mixed 2 gallon of 110 to 3 gallons of 91 you would be at 98.6 octane. 1 gallon of race fuel is 5-6 bucks if you get it from a place that sells it for an honest price. How much is a bottle of desent octane booster? Like 104+ octane booster 6-10 bucks. If you mix that 1 bottle of booster in 5 gallons of gas (wich would be 4x stronger than what the lable says. Most bottles treat 20 gallons of fuel). So that 1 bottle might up you 1 octane number (10 points). So 2 gallons of race fuel is a little more expensive than 1 bottle of octane booster, but the race fuel boost octane by 8 full numbers compaired to the 1 number that the booster does. Plus your burning a fuel instead of an aditive.
Face
So I am better off to just get the highest octane gas I can find? There is a place just down the road that sells 110 i think. it might only be 98.
jbooker82
No not nessessarly. You only need high octane fuel if you have higer compression. Some times race fuel will increase throttle responce. Try mixing a little 50/50 and see what you think.

locogato11283
if you havent been running high octane fuel theres no need to start now unless youve bumped up your timing or compression.
