jharader
had a really bad weekend guys had it tuned and dialed in here in la ran good, once i got to glamis it ran like shit, stock carbs 300 main jet and still sounded like it was running lean asking 4 more gas, i do not want to do this but i think i might have to just purchase a 4 stroke , i am gettin tired of all the wrenching, i understand that the power does not compare, but i want to be able to ride my bike not wrench on it while out there, also could anyone recommend a good shop out here in the los angeles area for me so that they could dial the bike in for glamis conditions, thanks... Sale it! go with a 4-stroke, thats one less bike i hafta worry bout passing me... dont come back to the board wondering why your machine sounds like a whoopy cushion though
Bansh-eman
He has NO airbox, he has K&N pods. A LOT more airflow than a box with no lid.He is lean. the differance from lid off to no air box is not going to make that big of a differance in his jetting. a 310 is right where he needs to be. at most he is one size small, but i doubt that even
lincster
I would do a leakdown test on your bike maybe you have an air leak. Just my .02. did you just quote yourself???????

rubberneck
With lid off, uni clamp on in stock box, I had 300 mains 4th notch on toomey needles with 25 pilots, air screws 1.5 turns out ran great at sea level. Went to K*N pods and had to go to 340 mains with clip on 2nd position and 25 pilots 1 turn out. Plug chop looked great bike ran great. I couldn't believe the difference the pods made on jetting. Just my experience.

badassbanshee479
do a plug chop! every motor is different and requires alittle different jetting.

I personally think you should go up, but I am not sure if those pipes flow like the Toomeys. But your biggest change was going to the pods. Yep, going to need to do a plug chop to verify. When i first put the pods on I went up 2 sizes to a320 and it ran great, but the smoke ring on the plug chop was very light colored. I jumped straight to the 340s and the bike actually still ran great, but the plugs looked better, so that is where she is staying. Like i said, on my bike, the pods required 4 sizes larger over a uni clamp on in the stock box with NO lid.. If you previously had a K&N clamp on then maybe the change wouldn't be as drastic, I dont know. I have never jetted a stock bike with shearers, so I cant answer the question accurately. If it runs good and doesnt' cut out at high speed, I would leave what you have in there and do a plug chop right away. May be perfect, may be lean, may be rich. Nobody can really answer. rubberneck
didn't know i was a hater. whatever the hell that means. you asked for help, i told you how my bike is jetted for basically the exact mods. bottom line though, nobody can tell you what jets your bike needs. we can only get you close. You have to check the plugs and evaluate how the bike is running. Next time i wont help.
