dajogejr
I'm not saying Kimbo doesn't have raw power, or even potential...but as it stands right now, Lesnar would whip Kimbo. Give him more training....then it'd be a different fight, but he simply doesn't have the cardio or other skills yet....YET. I think Lesnar and Kimbo would be a HUGE media success...though, any way you "slice" it.... Ellison, those two fight, we'll come up with a friendly wager...sound good?
xsinnerx
loco, you are right, not everyone gets to train with someone like Bas, that will make kimbo's game so much better than your average fighter starting out, so yeah he does have that going for him. Kimbo is in his early to mid 30's and barely taking up his jitsu, I just cant see him hanging in with someone on the ground who grew up traing jiu-jitsu and has been doing it for 10 to 15 maybe even 20 plus years, I just dont see it happening. Kimbo reminds me of Houston Alexander, has freakishly heavy hands with little to no ground game, he quickly knocked out Jardine in less than one minute then knocked out Sakara in barely over 1 mintute. His next fight he was taken down and submitted by ground and pound by Thiago Silva in the first round. Silva is a pretty good fighter, not in the top 5 or 10 in his division but still pretty good as are Jardine and Sakara, Silva just has a much better ground game than they do and a ton better then Alexander. I see the same thing happening for Kimbo, as soon as he fights someone not in their mid 40's with a decent ground game he's going to get exposed as being too one dimensional and be submitted rather quickly. Just my opinion.
Michael Jackson
id sure love to see kimbo VS lesnar though... i see it happening too... dana white is no idiot, itll be a HUGE money maker and make the sport even more popular than it already is, if thats even possible, kimbo's only chance is throwin bombs, and i can see lesnars big goofy ass gettin knocked out by one too, but if he dodges them and gets a hold of kimbo, its all over, yes bas rutten is one of the greatest ever, but it takes years and years and years of constant drilling and practice and repetition untill something is cemented in you head where you will go to that skill when in trouble by instinct, someone could teach me some cool ju jitsu and cool submissions and shit but when it came down to it, unless i have been doin it for years and its second nature, i would go back to wrestling when the pressure is on because thats all i know..same thign for kimbo, he might have all those fancy moves fresh in his head and do them great in a practice ring with a guy he knows, but when some dude is trying to pound your face in, and has all the tools to do so, your gona panic and go back to what you know, and for kimbo thats street brawlin... i can see him biting an ear off if he loses his cool like tyson, perfect example, when push came to shove, tyson would brawl and get outa control, but it always worked for tyon untill buster came along..so who knows..id love to see that fight though

Just my opinion. even the best ground guys get submitted from time to time. look at gsp vs. hughes. hughes is no dumbass on the ground, but still got his ass worked, so it can happen to anyone at any time. kimbo def could be submitted. however, i dont think anyone in elitexc can do it. and i also dont think anyone in elitexc can knock him out. there just isnt enough talent in that organization for that to happen. i think kimbo will probably work his way to the top of the chain in elitexc and end up moving to a bigger organization, maybe even ufc. who knows. i just dont think kimbo will be tested that much where hes at now. put him in the ring with some good experienced ground guys and yea, he will be tested and probably lose. but, him losing will not turn him into a can by any means. hes still good and can still win, but like everyone else he needs a loss to keep him grounded. itll happen, but unlike a lot of other guys i think kimbo will spring back with a vengeance and i wouldnt wanna be the guy across from him!! id sure love to see kimbo VS lesnar though... i see it happening too... dana white is no idiot, itll be a HUGE money maker and make the sport even more popular than it already is, if thats even possible, kimbo's only chance is throwin bombs, and i can see lesnars big goofy ass gettin knocked out by one too, but if he dodges them and gets a hold of kimbo, its all over, yes bas rutten is one of the greatest ever, but it takes years and years and years of constant drilling and practice and repetition untill something is cemented in you head where you will go to that skill when in trouble by instinct, someone could teach me some cool ju jitsu and cool submissions and shit but when it came down to it, unless i have been doin it for years and its second nature, i would go back to wrestling when the pressure is on because thats all i know..same thign for kimbo, he might have all those fancy moves fresh in his head and do them great in a practice ring with a guy he knows, but when some dude is trying to pound your face in, and has all the tools to do so, your gona panic and go back to what you know, and for kimbo thats street brawlin... i can see him biting an ear off if he loses his cool like tyson, perfect example, when push came to shove, tyson would brawl and get outa control, but it always worked for tyon untill buster came along..so who knows..id love to see that fight though biting an ear off? come on now, be real. KaosBanshee44
I haven't really been reading what everyone has to say but in my opinion all types of fighting is just like any other sport. I mean come on the Pats went undefeated and then lost the superbowl. Same thing with fighting people are gonna talk about this guy and there is no way he's gonna beat that guy etc. but it's not always like that. Me personally i don't keep up with UFC, Boxing or anything so i'm not gonna say anything about whose better than who. But i will say that the people who think this football team is gonna win, or this guy is better than this guy we would all be rich gambling with bookies you just can't predict Everything...Yeah some things you can like the pats playing miami but you know what i mean. dajogejr
Maybe dajo because he hates anything from miami lol I think your bitches are SMOKING HOT...LOL... Depends on who they put him up against... I mean if they pull the 70 year old Iron Sheik out of retirement....ok, I'll put money on Kimbo....LOL. I'd put money on Lesnar now, and in the near future... Other than that, it depends. As much as I hate him, I think Tim Sylvia would easily destroy him, Mir would, and a LOT of other top Heavyweights would...
ellison445
I concur, VERY well put Tyler    Dajo, You know Im always up for a friendly wager   i do agree that kimbo has a ways to go. hes only got 3 fights under his belt and while they were wins they def werent against the best opponents. here is where i think kimbo will prevail. the guy has a shitty background. comes from street fighting to mma where he is training hard and very seriously. i mean, not every brand new fresh mma guy gets to train under bas rutten. bas is a smart guy and was a great mma fighter. i dont think bas would take his time to train kimbo to be a nobody, and i dont think kimbo wants to be a nobody in mma. ive read on this post where people say hes just a brawler, but thats absolutely not true. ive seen training videos of the guy and he knows what to do when the time comes to go to the ground, he just hasnt had that happen yet. and it might even take a loss for him to really see where he stands, but right now hes on top of his game doing what he needs to do to win. people also say his striking is not good. bullshit, his punches to tanks were very crisp and accurate. anyone who disagrees needs to watch the fight again. and not that many people have knocked out tank. tank has a hard chin, and kimbo knocked him the fuck out. id say that kimbo's striking is pretty good. also, anyone talking about the sean gannon fight needs to get over it. that fight was stupid and means nothing. that was long before kimbo knew anything about conditioning or ground game. that fight is irrelevant. kimbo has excellent trainers now, so for someone to think that he will be subbed immediately or that he has no chance on the ground is fuckin stupid. kimbo is a beast at 235 pounds. he's lean, very strong and has the determination to be an excellent fighter. sure kimbo will probably lose to an experienced hw fighter, but name me one hw fight besides fedor who hasnt lost to another hw fighter? i mean, everyone acts like that when kimbo loses his career is over. get real. as fas as im concerned a loss will only make kimbo meaner and smarter. i cant wait until this kimbo shows up. i look forward to kimbos next fight and i dont care who its against. the guy is super nice, watch his interviews, and has a ton of heart. i hope he goes far in mma. EXACTLY.. mma is a sport in which one punch can change the whole outcome of the fight. its so hard to bet on guys because there have been so many upsets in the game. i just hate when people say, "hes gonna get murdered" or stupid shit like that. you just never know. look at GG and CC. everyone thought CC would kick the shit out of GG but thats not what happened. you just never know. i never count a guy out until hes actually lost the fight. Other than that, it depends. As much as I hate him, I think Tim Sylvia would easily destroy him, Mir would, and a LOT of other top Heavyweights would... please dont say that!! haha. man i cant stand tim sylvia. the guy is just so goofy. hes really boring to watch and i couldnt stand seeing him be champ again. hes just got nothing to offer me. i actually think kimbo would stand and knock the shit out of tim. think about the couture fight. randy kept coming out tim from all angles and it really fucked tims game up. randy dominated tim that fight because other than standing and striking tim has NOTHING to offer the fight. i think kimbo could keep on him enough to where he could land that hard shot to knock him out. hell randy knocked him down in the first 5 seconds and randy doesnt even hit that hard.. I concur, VERY well put Tyler    Dajo, You know Im always up for a friendly wager   thanks man!! dajogejr
Don't get me wrong Tyler, I absolutely HATE Sylvia too... But, given his experience as of this moment in MMA and Kimbos, I think he'd school him. I HATE to say it, but...I think he would. I was SO happy to see Randy work him over. When he put him on his ass in the first 5 seconds...I was simply in awe.... I'm with you on hating sylvia...but as you say, MMA one punch, kick, anything can TOTALLY change the outcome of the fight in half a second!! When you get stung and are in a daze...these guys' killer instinct takes over to finish you...period.

That's one of the things I liked the most about him...aside from him looking scary as hell, LOL! He was nice, and spoke well in the interviews. He wasn't trying to be or act like something he's not. He cracked me up when he said he'll knock someone out, then go over and help them, tell them they need to take their ass to the doctor, LMAO I don't know crap about MMA, UFC, any of those leagues. I just like watching a good fight. I want to see them out there knocking the shit out of each other until they can't take it no more. Sitting there for 5 minutes holding one another to pull off a "technical grapple" is flat out boring to me. But we're all different, I know there is a lot of skill involved in the grappling, its just like watching paint dry, to me.
dajogejr
I agree with you guys 100%, especially about the boring to watch ground games. I FULLY understand how much skill, strength and stamina it takes for a good ground/submission game, but it can be boring to watch. I'm sure if we were in the ring we'd think otherwise...LOL... One of the reasons I like watching the ice man, very little ground, usually trade blows standing up to see who is on their feet last. I think Chuck did a little too much partying and not enough training against Jardine...but there you go, as said, ANYONE can win on a given day. Perfect example...Diego Sanchez. I think he was 18-0...and got real, REAL cocky. Kos handed it to him, fought smart (unfortunately, KOS is just as much or more so cocky...) And Sanchez lost his next fight, too... Kimbo is very soft spoken and has a good heart...I agree. You have to root for a guy like that... To this day, Cro Cop is the biggest disappointment in my mind...I'm a big fan of his from the PRIDE series, I think he's still getting used to the Octagon. I'll take a stand up, rock 'em sock 'em fight all day every day, but...take downs and submissions are a BIG part of the game, it gives the smarter fighter the advantage over the stronger fighter....in that aspect. Michael Jackson
yea cro cop is definitely a big disappointment in his UFC careeer so far...it just doesnt seem hes been himself though... look at that fight in pride where he worked wanderlei silva over bigtime, just totally dominated him and beat the hell out of him, thats not the same cro cop that got head kicked by gonzaga, he was nervous and almost looked scared, he hardley did shit and im with everyone, i hate tim silvia , hes such a queer, if he wasnt a big goon by nature, hed be a bum
