Seized Banshee

Past weekend out on lake, banshee seized, brought it to my mechanic and the left side welded to top of head, and the crank rod almost snapped in half, it left fragments in my left pipe, my crank is shot and the left side needs new cylinder/bore and piston. Thank god for tax returns!!

Basically i want some help deciding on what size bore to go with and what crank. Come spring the shee will see small tracks and a decent amount of trail riding. I just need to know a good setup if there is one. And since im doin a rebuild how can i get some low end power. I need a new chain and sprocets, so can a different set of teeth get me the gearing i need?? any imput would be much appreciated...thanks

hears two pic, left piston with metal welded to it, and its hard to see the bottum one but if u can tell part of the rod is missing

how do your cylinders look? how bad are the gouges inside the cylinder walls etc etc. as far as gearing you can go up in the back, should give you a better low end, but a smaller top end, you can also drop a tooth in the front, i used to do it on my sport bikes, for wheelies and what not.

as far as your bore... you can safely go .20 over IF your walls dont have like .50 deep gouges in it, honestly, the best thing to do is take it to a machine shop, have them mic the inside walls of the jugs, including the gouges and scrapes and what ever other damage you have in there, and that will tell you how to gauge how big to bore it.

replace your crank, i would go with like maybe a stock wiseco crank set up or maybe a hot rods crank, get new pistons, and new rods bearings, connecting pins, etc etc, just google it. You can usually find that stuff on egay, however make sure you are buying genuine parts and not some cheap knock off from japan.

just my 2 cents...

also get a cool head, theyre cheap and a good upgrade, since your piston seemed to be welded to the other head lol

just bore it enough to get scratches out.. save bores by not going bigger then needed.. and get a noss head to lower compression with domes.. this will help a lil for lowend power.. and if you wanna spend the money get a 4mil crank(need a crank anyways) and have cyls ported for them then even more lowend and topend..

Seen that before. you sure the crank is shot you may be able to have it trued and welded, check it out before you buy a new one. The other guys have good ideas, go port job maybe cool head, or have your head shved down, have the carbs worked on and defintely go with some pipes.

I went with LRD pipes because they will give you more mid to high range, but if your looking to just ride trails the toomey t6 is a bad ass pipe.

95 shee

bored .60 over

lighted flywheel

rewound stator

dune port

milled head
