Hey all.. I just rebuilt my motor and wanted to know if I can check the compression now or if the rings have to seat before I can check it?? Will the comp go up or down?

The compression should improve after the engine is broke in and the rings have seated.

im not 100% sure on why you need to hold the throttle but its just something you have to do lol. turn your gass of and i take both plugs out. makes it easyer to kick over. btw kick until your guage doesnt move any higher.

I would guess you need to hold the throttle open so the cyls can suck in enough air to fill them, thus building the correct amount of pressure.

If they couldn't suck in all the air they wanted (slides closed) you'd get a skewed (low) compression reading.
