gregrob
Hey guys, Been reading, searching and talking to some guys I know on another site for over a week so hopefully I wont get flamed too hard for bein a noob. LOL I picked up an 02 Banch the other day. As far as the previous owner knows it has nothing but pipes and jetted for them. They are FMF fatties with gutted stock silencers. Here's my list of mods. If you guys totally shoot me down that's fine. I just want a good, strong running reliable bike. Maybe I'm asking too much out of the stock bore and stroke but I want to run with, or edge out my buddies YFZ's, a couple of which have WR 450 kits, one is a 468 big bore, the others are just bolt ons. Also, I live and ride btw 6,000-8,500ft. Here goes: Noss cool head w/ 19cc domes V Force 3 Reeds Dual K&N's w/ outerwears Adjustable timing plate, probably around +5 Dune Port 86 the TORS Temp Gauge I've got an experienced guy who wil help me tune it once I get it set up. I'd rather not have to run race gas, but I could mix 91 a little hotter, to 95 or so if I needed to. Remember I am at elevation so I may be a little lower on compression than most of you guys see with 19cc domes. I'd also keep the fatties for now, and eventually upgrade to T5's, CPI IF's, or Shearer IF's haven't decided. So what did I miss, or what would you do different? Any guess as to what HP will be with those mods? My intended riding is SAND and Hill Shoots (very steep ones in Walden, CO and Kilpecker LOL) and beating on any unsuspecting 4-stroke I can. Thanks guys, Greg
BigRed350x
Welcome to the site man! There are quite a few of us who ride walden and KP on here. Including me. I live in rock springs right now, about a half hour from KP, and lived in laramie for a while when I was in college and rode walden almost every weekend I lived there. Also have a ranch between cheyenne and laramie, about 50,000 acres of riding. We will have to meet up some time and do some riding, along with "Rippen" and "theshee" and "hyperlite" As for mods I'd talk to any of those guys and figure out what a good hill setup would be. Porting (herr jugs, FAST, K&T, LC Performance, gorr are all good porters) Cool Head w/ 19cc domes like you said timing plate @ +4 degrees vforce3's with the stuffer plates, or ported stock cages with dual stage reeds, both are about the same. lighten flywheel if you're a light guy like kiel, lol or keep it heavy if your a fatass like me. I'd change pipes though. You will see more gains from a T5 or CPI pipe. Bigger carbs (33 pwk's would be a good size for your setup, would give some additional top end, and better throttle response) longer swingarm if you dont have it aftermarket suspension will make a world of difference. Just dont go too wide if you ride walden a lot. I have +2+1's and offset rims and I have to change front tires when I go to walden, as well as shorten up my rear axle or I can't fit up any of the fun shoots. Then when I hit KP or sand mountain I widen everything back up for a nice ride. If you haven't done it yet, do the shift star mod, and grab a billet basket when you have some extra money. That should pretty well deplete your bank account.

Wildcardracing
Sounds like you know what ur doin. your set up is almost identical to mine and I love it, I ride at 5000' and can get away with 91 octane in the cooler weather. I'll have to agree with bigred, you're gonna want a longer swinger... mine is a plus 2 and I'm planning on going to +4 or +6. You're deffinately gonna want a longer one at walden, I've seen Rippen's clips and the shit out there is crazy steep!! Oh and after the mods bigred suggested you shouldn't have andy probs with the 450's, my brother has a modded yfz that can't hang with mine in the steep shit or shootin the hills. Edited February 10, 2008 by slobanshee06

Thanks man. I'm curious about porting your own cages, and putting in carbon reeds. Where can I buy just the reeds, and can you point me to info on porting them? Thanks
