Get porting, keep the pipes.

Unless you get a VERY aggressive port job, those T6s work just fine.

As said, 450s are no joke...they have HP and weight ratio over banshees....

The 450s are bad, I owned a modded out YFZ an ya it was fast an I outran a few shees but it wasnt by much, mine was piped , cammed, pro-flow intake, quick shot, little mods to the carb an some other little things , it was dynoed at 50hp.

There is only one raptor 700 around where I ride that I have seen run an it was slow, it had a pipe , chip, k&n intake an it was dissapointingly slow, im not hating on 700s because there are some out there that are really fast but when a 450R with just a pipe can blow it away its sad, an the 450R is slow too it got smoked by a shee with just fmf gnarly pipes the only people around where I ride only ride YFZ's, 450R's, banshees, an dirtbikes.

The only people who want 700s around my area only want one because they think oh its a 700 so it must do 90 mph stock an have like 100 hp an its got a 700cc motor so its the fastest thing around, basically people who dont know much about quads.

Have passion, herrjugs, or F.A.S.T..ect do a professional port and polish an maybe some bigger carbs an if you go all out an get a real agressive port job get some different pipes , like CPI inframes.

yea these new 450s and raptor 700 are no joke.. they definitly are not 400ex's.. but on the other hand, i think certain guys (who own them) are trying to give them more credit than is due...

they deserve all the credit they get , it takes alot of money and motor work to get the same power out of a banshee that a 4 stroke has with just a pipe , jet kit and air filter .

im not knocking the shee , there is nothing like riding one , but unless you open up the motor (porting , carbs , stroking) 4 strokes just have a advantage with similar mods .

not to start a bitch fight here but my banshee with a couple basic bolt ons runs right next to the bolt on 450's 660's and 700's i ride with...i think its all about what state the bikes are in, the guy above me is talkin about a piped 450r smokin piped raptor 700's, from my experience and what ive seen, and having ridden both, its the other way around...

Actually its a proven fact that its cheaper to mod out a basnhee than a 450 or raptor 700, I had like $3000 in mods alone with my 450 not including how much the quad was when I bought it new it was $6700 an I wasnt even close to being done with it thats why I decided to trade it in an get a banshee. For $3500 I could have a banshee faster than most 450s an 700 raptors, except for the drag 450s an raptors.

cub cylinders an a 4mil crank an bigger carbs= faster than most 4strokes

im not trying to start a fight either .

but you are comparing a used banshee to a new 450 in price ,

if you buy a brand new banshee put pipes , k+n filter and jet kit and race it against a new yzf 450 with a pipe , K+N filter and jet kit , with 2 equal skilled riders the banshee will lose every time . if you dont think so you are kidding your self .

if you start talking cubs , crank , big bore pipes , then yes the banshee will win .

but look at the price of those mods.

i have both a banshee and a yzf 450 .

my banshee has a good amout of port work , v force reeds , 30 mm carbs , cool head , k+n , toomey t-5's , runs on race fuel ,

my yfz 450 has lrd pipe, jet kit and K+N filter .

they are very close in a race , the 450 is faster off the line but the banshee takes it in top end ,

I am not comparing in used prices because all of the quads I have owned were bought new, im not trying to argue either im just saying,

I have bought a new YFZ 450 modded the hell out of it an traded it in on a new banshee, thats what I got now is a new banshee well actually I bought it new last year.

Ya bone stock vs bone stock 450 will win, basic bolt on vs basic bolt on, it determines the rider , I have seen bolt on shees walk away from bolt on 450s, The 450s are no slouch as I have owned one that was modded out so I know. I meant 450 $3500 in mods vs Shee $3500 in mods Shee will have more power an be faster.

Shee vs modded Raptor 700

Shee vs 2 modded YFZ-450s

Doesnt answer questions but its entertaining.

I was looking into the T6 i called Toomey and they told me if i ran them with any type of engine mod i would loose performance. cool head/ reeds / timing .... exc. they said T6 is for a stock bike with no mods.

I think your rep at Toomey is full of shit. Adding compression and advancing the timing will add a noticable gain in power even with T-6 pipes.

The guy above that said that 450s walk on a 700s is dead wrong not to be rude or anything but you need to go to a drag area like glamis or dumont or something because a piped, filtered, PCIII raptor with walk all over any piped filtered jetted 450 out there. Its just a proven fact any day of the week. The guy you raced must of had his tuning messed up or does not no how to ride for shit. Anyway I perfer to ride my banshee anyday of the week athough it is slower than my 700 it is just a blast to ride and that is what I ride for is to have fun.

F.BEJARANO, read woodro77's post and take it all in. It is the truth in real world situations. Dont believe all this with a ported shee you will smoke, destory, kill etc 4 strokes. It will still be a race. With my bike, it is hard if not damn near impossible to beat them if it is a short race.

Ill take a couple moths ago races for example. There was some 450's with +4, pro wedges and a little work to it. They beat everyone. Reason is setup.

IMO just ride your bike as is and enjoy it for what it is.

The best feeling so far is beating some 250 dirtbikes. Although they arent made to drag, makes me feel good haha.
