hollisatp
Well I melted one piston all the way down to the first ring. I Just got my jugs ported, they will be bored and honed tomorrow with 64.5mm rings. The head will be milled .35mm also by the same company. Check out my mods for the rest.. So for my question... I am wondering what start to save up for next?? are there any other bolt ons? or am I out of that market now? Thanks! (any idea what my jetting might change to?) dajogejr
Are they just whacking .035 off the head, or are they reshaping/rechambering it as well. If they're just whacking 35 off, the new motor won't last long either....
wacko2000
The jetting that is in your sig, Is that what you where running when you melted those pistons? What is you elevation?
hollisatp
No I am not getting the head rechambered.. What does that include and why do you say that the motor wont last long?? The jetting I had when I melted was 310 mains and stock pilots. I blew out a reed gasket somehow and it leaned out my mixture. New to the motor is pistons, port, pilot jet, head mill, (which has not happened yet but will this week sometime) Is there a different mm to mill the head to not ruin the motor?? I havent heard that before but have the chance to not do it or have less taken off.. 4mm crank... I need to invest in the crank (which I know the price of) but are there other mods that have to be done to go with that? Thanks!

If they just hack off .035 it'll make your squish clearance way too tight and it will need to be rechambered to correct it.
hollisatp
so what is the optimum mm to remove? I have seen 20mm to 30mm..
jbooker82
4mm crank... I need to invest in the crank (which I know the price of) but are there other mods that have to be done to go with that? Thanks! A cool head with stroker domes. So you could get the cool head now and run regular domes. That way when the 4 mill crank comes you just have to swap domes. 795 Series Pistons
wacko2000
Im not pro On jetting, but if you are anywhere near sea level, your main jet is def lean.. I was running 310 on a stock port and airbox no lid.. I had basic bolt ons... Now you bike is ported and you are running pods, you should bump that main a few sizes..Prob want to start around 350 and do a plug chop.. Ill pickup some extra jets but you think 350 is where to start?? what is the largest jets stock carbs can take?? Im curious to know when its time for bigger carbs.. Do you kno what cause your last melt down? Its always good to start alittle rich...When you where running the 310 did you ever check the plugs, plug chop? Most guys on here seem to change carbs once they get ported, but there are still a few rocking stock carbs with a ported motor, Im one of them...I had 33pwk and sold them..For my riding the stockers are just fine..What type of riding do you do? spurdy
How much are you having taken off the head? 0.35mm or 35 thousandths (0.035")? There is a big gifference. 0.35mm is only about 14 thousandths (0.014"). 0.035" on the other hand is about 0.9 mm which would really make your squish tight! Your builder should be able to get you real close on your jetting if he knows what he's doing, Also make sure before you go buying a stroker crank that your portwork can be altered for it. They have to adjust the floors of the ports -2mm for a 4mil stroker and if extensive porting has been done your durations will be too long once ported for the new stroke. I would recommend saving the money on milling your stocker and getting a billet head later. You will see more bang for your buck from advanced timing as opposed to milling your head.
