jayzx10r
I picked up a set of CPIs (thanks, Frogger) and am gonna install them when my RIS collars (thanks jbooker82 for the heads up) come in. I'm switching out my FMF Fattys and was wondering....do you think I'll have to go richer, leaner, or run the same jetting to sport my shiny, new CPIs? Thanks, Jay. Fireroad Express
definately start richer. CPI's tend to rev higher so they are probably a hotter running pipe. go up 2 or 3 sizes on the mains and start from there(imo). someone with CPIs should check in here soon. For sure you'll have to go up. One of my buddies had to go up six sizes before we got his right (he had some pos pipes on). It may not be that drastic for you but I'd start at three and go from there.
jbooker82
What is your jetting now? You have PWK 33's right?

angler
well I just sported my new CPIs (thx Frogger) at Pismo and I also traded up from Fattys and It's pulling hard until I open it up in 4th then it dies like it's running out of gas. I figured it's because I have stock carbs but they're jetted for my port job. I was told that the jets were fine for CPIs. Could it be something else? jbooker82
If it is just falling on its face I would say your lean. If it falls on its face and it feels rough then I would say your rich. Kind of choppy. josh

angler
Well, when I get into 4th it just slows down like I let off to half throttle, then when i down shift to 3rd it still feels like half throttle. It's not bogging, it just slows down. When I had my Fattys I could get all the way to 6th wide open hauling asssss! But, it took a lot longer to get there than with these CPIs. I was dragging at Pismo and the only banshees that were beating me were really built. And I was hanging right behind them until 4th. From 1st to 4th, my Shee is faster than it's ever been with these CPIs. Thx for the info!
angler
Spoke to Jeff at FAST and he thinks I'm running the gas out of the bowls. I need 35s. Sorry for stepping on your thread.

N/P. Maybe you need to clean the screen on your petcock, clean out the petcock itself, or get a Pingel!! Even if you had bigger bowls, if you are using fuel faster than it is delivered I see a new top end in your near future...
