tnr
First of all I would like to say hi. Anyhow, I just bought a used banshee and decided to take the top end out and have some work done. It still had stock bore and pistons with no port work. I took it to a local shop and had the work done, but the porting seems very little if not none. I know that you cant tell how it is going to perform by looks, but is this something I should address before I put the shee back together. Sorry about the quality of the pics, had to lower the resolution. Any help is appreciated. Thanks again.

TexasBansheeMan
That just looks like a cleanup port
tnr
This is my first quad so I am unsure of some things. I was told it was a stage one port which is comparable to a mild dune port, so I have been told. By the looks of the port job, I could have grabbed a dremmel and done it myself. How much is it for a a cleanup port??
dajogejr
Bolt it together and see how it runs. When it comes to porting, it's not always how it looks... You have to measure port heights, duration, shape...as well as a few other things. Run it...see how you like it...
tnr
It just seems that there was not a whole lot of porting done. Being this is the only motor I have ever torn apart, there is much to learn. I must say that this bike is like a crack addiction. When I get her up and going I will let you know. Thanks and I am sure I will have many more questions.
locogato11283
who did it and how much? just curious. looks like a cleanup. you might notice a lot with that. what are your other mods? anything to compliment the porting?
Snopczynski
I cant tell anything fom the pics (flash), all the port windows will need to be measured to tell what it is.
tnr
It has 30mm oko carbs, Toomey T-4's, shaved head, Wiseco pistons (20 over), Boyesen dual stage reeds, and that is about all I can think of for engine mods. I paid $200 for the porting. I have the motor put back together now, so I cant measure the ports. We will see how it goes when I take it out this weekend. I will keep you posted. Thanks
sheerider1026
ouch!!! 200.00 for a cleanup port?? i did my own porting and did ten times more than that, it was free since i did it, and mine rips hard.. i also ported andrew's banshee and it is a bad mofo, wheelies in every gear without any effort. kawiking
ouch!!! 200.00 for a cleanup port?? that seems high just for a clean up, i had a drag port done for 300..... but it was from a local builder to.
tnr
that seems high just for a clean up, i had a drag port done for 300..... but it was from a local builder to. I talked to the guy this morning and and he assured me that it was a stage 1 port. He opened up the transfers, intake, and exhaust. You can see inside the cylinder that they were opened up. Overall I received the port job, boreing the cylinders, wiseco pro lite pistons, top end gasket kit, and lightened flywheel for $505. So I took a guess on the $200 for the port work. Hopefully the port is what he says it is. Good thing I have a friend that has about the some setup as me, so I will be able to tell once we hit the sand. I must say that the banshee is worse than a crack addiction, my wife is getting pissed at me. I just tell her she had been replaced by a shee that dont talk back.
