nwitthus Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I have this done to the bike that I just got MOTOR- Cool Head, 10mil Crank, 68mm Bore, Cheetah Cub Jugs w/ Port Work, Straight Cut Gears, TZ Bearing, Billet Clutch, Lock-up Clutch, Hi-Flo Billet Water Pump, 2 to 5 Overide Tranny, Billet Alum. Intake, V Force Reeds, 39mm Carbs, K&N Air Filters, Advanced Timing Plate... Far too much to list! Marvin Shaw Shocks, Extreme 12 scoop Ultralite Haulers, 8" Swing Arm, CPI Pipes. so the ? is if I wanted to change the clutch out so that I could ride the dunes and not just race what would be the best setup also around how much will this cost Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 is your over ride a duneable override or a standard over ride? thats the only thing you would need to change because a standard override would break your tranny the first time to try to down shift in the dunes. the lockup and everything else is fine. although a 10mil with marvin is going to beat your ass in the dunes but you could still ride it. I just asked the guy and he said it is a It is a true override, the gears have been back cut and the clutch has to be pulled in when you let off on the throttle unless you are in 1st or 5th so that means not very fun to ride so what do I have to do to change that to a dunable override and how hard and how much does this cost what happens if I forget to pull in the clutch Quote
BigRed350x Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Just get a stock transmission and get the gears side cut and get a modded star and you will be ok for the dunes. The lockup clutch setup should be fine, the 10mils have enough torque you won't notice the lockup on there. Quote

Bansh-eman Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 (edited) you would need to split the cases to put the new tranny in there. if i was you i would sell the override you have and buy a duneable override, this will solve your problem and you dont have to worry about what tranny your running Edited January 10, 2008 by Bansh-eman Quote
dajogejr Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 I agree...sell the override you have and get a dunable... My 4 mil cub on gas was worthless with a stock tranny....a 10 mil will be even worse. If you're gonna take the time to cut a tranny, get it done right... Dunable override is the only way to fly... Let me know if you need a dunable tranny...I might have someone that will swap out yours for a dunable, possibly with a few bucks on top.... Quote
