4strokes are just too much to rebuild, valve adjustment is one of the biggest things i hate. id stick to the good ol 2 strokes. and you really have to mod some 4 strokes to beat 2 strokes.

 

Sorry Sam..but BS.

A piped and jetted 450 will beat a piped and jetted banshee all day long. Bolt on mods only, a 450 will win...

Once you port a banshee...then it's all over for the 4 pokes...

 

YOu don't have to have much mods on a 450 at all to beat a bolt on banshee....

 

Anytime you start to heavily mod anything, reliability goes down and $$ and price of upkeep go up.

the 450 is my my wifes... lol. I will never not have a bansee though, they climb like nothing else out there. You try to climb on my rap 700 and you get to look striaght up in the air, its too hard to keep it from wheeleing.

i got my son an 05 yfz450 from alba & had the pipe & intake done & rejetted. that bike is fast for what has been done.

but not as fast as my shee

i got to stick with the yamaha brand.

would like to put a r1 street bike motor in a rino. now that will wake it up! :biggrin:

I wouldn't trade my yfz450 for anything. You guys keep saying that 450's are $7000 tirds blah blah blah... You just have to remind yourselves what the 450's were designed for. I'm pretty sure it wasn't straight line racing. Gotta give some credit where its due.. These new 4 strokes are some VERY nice machines.

true...true !!! i bought a kawi 400 in 05' i wish i would have bought a yfz. only reason i went with the kawi was reverse. if i was to own a 450, it would have to be the yfz !!! my buddy has a rap 700 and i really like it. i hate the 660 's thou. shift like crap and cant keep the front end down.

I have a buddy who bought a 06 KFX 400. He LOVES it! You can't really hate on the raptor 660's too much.. Gotta remember when they came out in 01'.. they set the standard for Hi-performance 4 strokes.. But I do like the new 700 rappy better! My next quad will be a 700 or a 03 or newer 660. Depending on what I find for the right price.

Ive been rather disappointed in them all. Since I moved out here where its all 4 wheelin Ive had my ported/stroker under me and nobody will pull up to me. I show up and do a lap and everyone leaves. There was a pair of people draggin in front of me when I came out of the woods and I passed them up from about 50` from behind them, and the little group of them all left before I could as whos next. A crowd of like 6-7 on 450 and raps where in a line racing through the woods and I came up beside em and they all pulled off to the side.

my friend colby has a YFZ450, modded to hell its ported, cammed, pro curcuit pipe, and its all done up for racing by the prevouis owner and his dad has a 89' 250r just a pipe and reeds and the 250r walks all over the yfz like its nothing. we thought it was the rider and they switched up and then again 250r won.

Damn, all this 4 stroke bashing. I'll ride anything with 2, 3, or 4 wheels. Shit, Ive blasted around an an LT80 before. A few of my buddies have 450s, and they are pretty quick. I just can't see spending 7-8k for a brand new bike, when you can pick up a shee for 1500 around here, and turn it into a basically a new bike that's pretty sick for 3k more. A lot of people call them old technology, I prefer proven. The bike's been around for 20 years, means they did somethin right. I'm not big on new technology, because, as with the early YFZs(and Windows Vista), and who knows what with the new ones, they have A LOT of mechanical kinks to be worked out. But hey, some people honestly like 4 strokes better, shit, if I did, I'd spend the extra loot for one.

 

Ohhhh yeah, congrats on the win. Anyone that talks shit like that deserves to get beat.

My 450 has its share of 2 stroke kills under its belt... Its also got its share of losses.. One thing I found is that switching bikes dosn't really make it even. I let BansheeDan ride my shee at the track and he was 3 tenths slower then my times and he's 100lbs lighter.

Sam...sorry again man, a 250 R with ONLY a pipe and reeds will get beat by a piped 450, let alone a fully built one.

 

A 250R was the king in it's day of motocross, track and trail...but the 450s are light years better out of the box and light mods.

 

I've spent a LOT of time at the strip and the dunes...someone isn't being straight with you. The 450 doesn't have as much as you've been told, the 250R has a TON more than what you're told, or neither of those riders know how to ride a 4 stroke....

Ya my YFZ-450 was modded out an it was fast but to an extent if your not racing it there comes a time where it is just boring an not fun to ride it, thats why I traded mine in on my Banshee, because it is just alot more fun to ride an with mods its really fast.

 

If I were racing MX or flattrack/TT I would have a YFZ-450

 

but since im not racing im glad I have my Banshee

 

oh ya 450R's are slow compared to YFZ's and yes I can honestly say that because I have proven my point to my self many times by showing up my friends 450R when he still had it.

I traded my banshee for a 250R to race, I then traded it for a 05 450R.

After all these trades I now have a bike thats quick, fun to ride in the woods and alot of fun on the MX track. I hated the 2 strokes in the woods it was wide open and slipping the clutch to slide around shit, and I hated having to rebuild the 2 strokes all the time. I love my 450R, but I do miss the shear power and speed that the Banshee and 250R had, but for me Im much quicker on the 450R and I have alot more fun on it. I just dont agree that 450s are slow or pigs by any means, a stock banshee isnt much fun to ride either. By the way I raced both the Banshee and the 250R in local and district races.

got a yfz with pipe, filter, cam mod. i have beat quite a few banshees at local dirt races. not saying everyone but a few.

for the money its probably the best bike to own, just that simple shit and it runs great, a blast at the dunes trails and strip.

 

both bikes are fun and have their purposes.

but now im starting to mod the hell out of the 450 lol

 

fun times.
