baddsheee
Just wondering if this is normal, I feel like I'm burning fuel rediculous (sp). At Glamis, I'll camp on Gecko, go for a ride to Olds, run up the hill a couple of times and barely make it back to camp on reserve. I know I'm going to burn more fuel than stock bikes but I always see these drag bikes with stock tanks, what is going on? Is there something wrong with my setup. I'm thinking about going to the ugly ass 5 gallon tank. What do you guys think?
rubberneck
Man, its been so long since Ive been to glamis, I cant remember how long of a ride that is. I do definitely notice that my shee (stock with bolt-ons only) drinks way more than my old 250r. Now I am the first person to be looking for fuel in our group (all 250r's and 4 pokes) I can tell you that according to my Vapor, I need fuel at about 30 miles while duning hard. I too have been considering one of the UGLY tanks. Just haven't been able to convince myself that the look is worth the benefit. LOL
Michael Jackson
did you check to see if any was leaking out your overflows? i thought my banshee was eating an abnormally large amount of gas while riding oneday, and didnt notice till i stopped on pavement and heard the piss splashing noise of it leaking and hitting the pavement
csrmel
banshees in general consume alot of fuel. couple that with copious amounts of throttle usage and it really suffers. now add on the fast that most people have their banshees set up to run pig ass rich and the fuel economy just plummets. honestly almost every banshee i see is setup to run way too rich. you can hear them running so rich they are 4 stroking from idle to nearly full throttle. alot of people really need to put in some smaller jets and adjust those pilots and needles! i find that its best to ride in a higher gear when you are getting from one place to the next and stay out of the powerband if conditions allow it. if you drive efficiently you can conserve a lot of fuel. when you get to where you want to be, go have fun with the throttle and tear it up like it was meant to be. but take it easy on the way back to camp and you will have saved a bunch of fuel. using this method, you can stay out there a lot longer having fun before returning home. but just for reference, my bike consumes just about twice as much as my buddies 440ex big bore with a drag cam, ported head and a bunch of other mods. banshees in general just consume a lot of fuel. no way around it besides buying a 4 stroke. if i run around on the throttle all the time then its about 50% worse. wesw
what jetting did you end up with. if your riding hard a tank should last you an hr at least or longer thats pretty much half throttle the whole time or wot. and non stop. baddsheee
what jetting did you end up with. if your riding hard a tank should last you an hr at least or longer thats pretty much half throttle the whole time or wot. and non stop. I'll be cruizin it to the hill so I can run up the hill a few times against the 4pokes  . I ended up with CEL's 4th clip, 48 pilot, 3/4 turn air screw (3/4 is where I got my highest idle), and 155 mains. Gonna do a plug chop as soon as I get to Glamis for New Year's weekend. I switched over to Yamalube, I ran about a gallon of fuel with yamalube @ 32:1 around my house and still spitting oil out the pipes. I think I blew my top end last time with the 148's. I did a plug chop with the 148's and on my way back to my truck the shit blew. When I got home and cut them, they only had a 1mm wide band. Anyone gonna be at Glamis on New Years to drink some cold ones? Edited December 22, 2007 by baddsheee
