4 mil cub vs. 10mil cub

I have another frame laying around...and I would like to make a drag bike out of it, I was thinking cubs definatly but idk whether to go with a 4 mil or 10 mil...the 10 mil crank is alot more expensive and dont I have to trench the cases? Will the 4 mil fit right in or does it require mods too?, How much of a difference in speed is there between the 4mil and 10 mil? Is it worth my time and money to run the 10 mil? Thanks guys!

my drag ported 4 mill runs with in a tenth or two or my buddys ten mill cub!!

if the 4 mill is setup right, it can be real competitive with the tens!!

The four mill is the best bang for the buck imo also, because the crank just drops right in and it is cheaper than the ten mill

Thanks man, thats what I was thinking..the crank itself is ALOT cheaper than the 10 mill, and im sure the 10 mills are faster...but not enough for me to pay that much more for it, I really appreciate it..Ohh and what piston size would you run? later

There are lots of strong running 4mils out there, and 7mils too... Is go with one of those before another 10mil, it seemed like overkill for our racing up here. I liked my 4mil best of the two strokers ive had.

If your trying to decide from a 10 or a 4 and was leaning more towards a 10 but don't want to fork out money to trench the cases why not go with a 7mill they drop right in. That's what all my buddies run and they love it.

a 7 mil crank wont drop in only the 4 mil is a drop and go crank 7 and 10 require case trenching

if you are gonna build a seven why not build a ten?? the cranks are the same cost and they both need case trenching

I have the 10 mil he is talking about, and he's dead right. As with any racing, either of us can win at any time...and we've had a friendly rivalry for the past couple of years in a good way, we push each other to go faster.

His 4 mil is drag ported, my 10 mil is not, however...to be 100% fair, my bike has a lot more lightened goodies on it, front end, drag axle, etc...

We are both members of the Heavy Hitters club (250 lbs plus)

I think BadAss will agree, a 10 mil is easier to go faster on, he only rode my bike one time, and ripped off a 4.3 or 4.4...and my fastest time on my own bike is a 4.22.

If I'm not mistaken, the first words out of his mouth back in the pits was "Man, I'm building me a 10 mil"...LOL.

However, 4 mils without a doubt are the best bang for the buck, and setup right will give 7 and 10 mils fits all day long.

Our other friend Shayne has a 4 mil that has beat my best time a few times this year...

I had a 4 mil on race gas with a stock tranny and no lockup last year, moved to a 10 on alky with override and lockup this year.

If you can afford it, get the 10. If money is an issue, get the 4...you'll be happy either way.

Keep in mind, you're going to need an override, upgraded clutch, lockup, longer swingarm, more paddle...etc., just to name a few. Also better pipes and intakes, bigger carbs.

So...whatever you think you're gonna spend, triple that for a starting point....trust me.

Yeh, I wasnt going to buy the 7mill, I figured if I were going to spend that money id buy the 10mill, but I like the idea of 'dropping' in the 4mill, I think thats what im going to do, I only weight about 130lbs so weight shouldnt be a problem lol, yeh I know its going to get really expensive..but it should be alot of fun, what kind of carbs do you guys recommend? Ive heard Lectrons were real good, but ive heard the same about the pwks, what do you think? Thanks.

Well put homie...

Depends...

I had PWKs, someone gave me a set of Lectrons, and I wouldn't go back. however, the carbs I have retailed 700 to 800 new. I don't have that kind of cabbage to spend on carbs when for a few hundo you can get PWKs or Mikunis.

Are you going to dune it more or drag race it more? What kind of pipes you going to run? Where are you going to be riding it? Are you going to run gas or alky?

130 lbs on a 4 mil is gonna be a fast bike....
