temperature gauge kit

I have that same gauge. The LED one. I mouned mine up by the handle bars same as my old setup. I was running the mechanical one. I couldnt keep a gauge in it. The vibration would ruin them pretty quickly. The electric one is the way to go. My bar clamp is a trail tech clamp. It has that hole in it. Get you a mounting bracket for a 2in or 2 1/16 gauge. Straighten the bracket out, trim and knotch the bracket so it will fight tighly inbetween the 2 top handle bar clam bolts and tighten the bars down.

is it a whole buttload of wiring to install it, since it does so much stuff? will it work with renthal bars and the cascade bar mount plate?

its not too bad to wire. for the temp gauge, you just cut your radiator hose and splice it back with the temp sensor from the kit.

for the tach you just hook the wire to one of your plug wires.

for the speedo you just mount the supplied bracket to one of your front wheels and mount the speed sensor to it. then hook up your ground and youre good to go.

it has engine temp, ambient air temp, tach, speedometer, clock, hour meter, stop watch, odometer, trip odometer. plus you can set the LED warning lights for overtemp and redline and program shift LED.

how do you have yours mounted, and what bars are you running? any more pics? i have renthal bars on both my bikes, and i want it mounted like how it looks like the one in your sig is, so i could keep the renthal pad on, and have the display below it.

You can buy a mechanical one, instead of electrical. Pesonally, I like them better anyways. If you get one with an LED backlight, LED can run on DC or AC current. Just hook the power wire to your headlight switch, so the light comes on with the headlights. These are some good ones. I think they come with peanut bulbs, but you can buy LED peanut bulbs for a couple bucks. Well known brand, for half the price. And, looks much better.

i think i might just go with the CRJ temp gauge, it is battery powered, so i dont have to worry about torching it if the voltage regulator comes unplugged. i like the trailtech, but my problems with it are that i have renthal handlebars, and hide a keys, so if i get the dash mount, it will be blocked by the bar on the renthal bars. also, i use a garmin etrex, so i pretty much always have distance speed anyways, and the way i beat on my bikes, the less stuff to break the better!

dont the mechanical ones have problems of not being able to read them/getting damaged due to the vibrations of the engine etc? how are they connected, just to a probe in the coolant line?
